I thought Weapons of Mass Destruction got unfairly hated on.

Xzibit was one of my favorites back in the day.
2748189, Me too Paparazzi and LA Times were classics

^that's his third best album imo..people who hate on that one have no taste whatsoever
2748195, Muthafucka is ridiculous!

How does this one compare to that album?
2748201, it's very similar..definitely a surprise

2748237, what was on Weapons Of Mass Destruction? I sorta lost track

after Man vs Machine (the last one I think I copped), didn't really enjoy that album or Restless (save the Sermon-produced Lik joint on there) but the singles from the ones after didn't grab me.

Is it on the level of his first or at least his second LP?
2748275, I can't say it's on the level of the first two

Man Vs Machine was a major let down to me.

Restless was cool because I knew he was with Dre and going more mainstream and I thought for an album with that goal, the end result was pretty dope when compared to others that tried the same thing (Mic G etc)

But other than that Primo joint, which was insane, MvM was pretty fucking bad.

The first two albums will always be his best.

At the Speed of Life had some serious highs but even from the time it dropped I thought it could've been better. Just didn't have a great cohesive flow for me.

40 Days and 40 Nights was my favorite albums of his. Chamber Music, 3 Card Molly, What U See, Focus, Deeper, LA Times, Recycled Assassins when all greatness. However, he did have Pussy Pop on there and I know it's the funny story joint, but I could definitely do without Shroomz.

Weapons of Mass Destruction had the Tmbaland produced single which I thought was a dope Timbo cut. I think Keri Hilson was on that right?

It had the Ice Cube nod, the Judgement Day joint, Muthafucka was dope, the SAS guest spots were dope. It just had a pretty consistent vibe. Definitely not a great album but its a solid B- throughout. I need to breaks it out again though because it has been over a year since I heard it.

I liked it a bit when it dropped because I was a fan of both camps at the time but that definitely feels like a 'time period' album, the guests actually outshine X & the less said about the song 'X' with that stiff-ass marching-band Storch piano the better.

Funny to me the debut flows fairly effortlessly, I could always start that one (skipping that little opening instrumental & getting straight to the Taxi Driver opening) and then let it ride.

It probably didn't need two Hurricane G features but both tracks she's on are dope enough that even her short-bus spitting feels comedic to me overall.

Then again I'm a huge Alkaholik fan who thinks they were pretty much flawless in the 90s & this album felt the most 'Likwit Crew' feel of any album he did so that colors my thinking I'm sure.

I remember feeling the second was the more bloated follow-up with some great songs but definitely some skippers, still a strong album overall though.

yeah, that song didn't have me dying to hear what else was on there.

2748304, 40 Dayz and 40 Nightz is def his best...

That album still holds up today. Chamber Music BANGS.
2748303, Agreed with all of this.
Posted by Brew, Sun Oct-14-12 12:11 PM
Xzibit has forever made quality music. His best was early on (first 3 albums) but I think his later albums were still strong lyrically and he stayed within his zone for the most part.

I'm excited to peep this new joint.
2748334, was that the one that had Judgment day on it?
Posted by Menphyel7, Sun Oct-14-12 04:56 PM
that's one of his best songs ever

Xzibit hasn't put out a dope album since the 90's. so saying best in 10 years still reads as wack to me.
2748203, nigga just hated on some future shit

I gotta be honest I haven't really checked for Xzibit the last couple of albums, but heard a lot of good things about this album and goddamn I forgot how much I love his voice, think he's got one of the best voices in hip hop. I LOVE 'at the speed of life' to this day, for me it's an almost perfect album, loved the second too, but for me it's his third best after the first and then 'restless', after that he lost me a bit

I really like this record, a lot of really introspective lyrics.

I gotta ask, on the track 1983 what does this part mean?

'i remember meeting dre, being nervous when I would kick my verses,
I was virtually worthless, my whole life was a circus, sleeping with serpents, and I thought it was worth it, I got a call from paul told me shit wasn't working, exchanged words, I told him tell me that shit in person, he probably told Em, and by the way he said, unapologetic, twisted it made it about him, I seen slim and he said he didn't recognize me, was it that or did he let another man define me, I don't know but now I need to get this all behind me, follow my own calling when I used to follow niggaz blindly'.

did he break with Em and Dre on bad terms? After Restless he obviously didn't do another album with Dre, and I assume by Paul he means Em's manager? Anyone know more about this, it intrigued me.

edit: just realized Dre actually did a track on this album so forget about that, but what about Em?
2748457, I know him and Em worked on Man vs Machine together...
Posted by Crash85, Mon Oct-15-12 10:40 AM
I never heard about them being on bad terms... But shit, that was right before Em got super heavy into the drugs... I'm sure he cut ties with a lot of people during that time...
2748311, he made albums in the last 10 years? lol

2748384, 4th album in the last 10 years, so yeah

Posted by Dj Joey Joe, Mon Oct-15-12 10:51 AM
Xzibit has always been a great rapper, never cared for his albums but none of them were bad just couldn't hold my attention all the way thru but he had some dope songs thru out his career.

That joint he got with King Tee & Tha Liks got me interested though, would love to hear that song.

THIS ALBUM IS FUCKING TERRIBLE. Wow. I can't even say there's one great song on the entire thing. Shame on this thread.
2754267, Care to explain why it's fucking terrible?
Posted by Anonymous, Tue Nov-06-12 09:33 PM
I was thinking of checking it out still.
2754276, RE: Care to explain why it's fucking terrible?

Awful, soulless beats--often with trite R&B hooks, shitty rock fused stuff, songs where X tries to get emotional and falls flat.

Just awful, awful, bland rap music. The guests are all lame sans the Likwir Rew song which is just okay.

TWO wiz features. It's a mess and its long as hell. I don't even understand the rationale behind making this thread as its every bit as bad as all the other bad Xzibit albums but it sounds even cheaper.
