I owned the clean/edited versions originally but later on wanted to own the regular dirty version so I purchased those years later but I really never loose, let someone borrow, or give my cds away so there is reason why I would repurchase a cd over again; but I have purchased albums on different formats like vinyl & cd.

for whatever reason, this album didn't make the cut
when i sold my stuff when i moved up to michigan.

i picked it up on vinyl for five bucks
last time i was in the record store. it's just as awesome as i remember it.

i can't be certain why i thought
i wouldn't want to hear this album anymore.

2748160, How do you feel about that album?
Posted by Jakob Hellberg, Sat Oct-13-12 12:43 PM
Especially compared with their earlier stuff? Personally, I think that while Mould's songs are uniformly strong (¤almost), the only good Hart-songs are "¤Back from somewhere" and "She's floating away".

Also, it's possibly the least diverse double-album I've ever heard with song-after-song of 80's college-rock. Compared with their earlier albums, there's no hardcore/punk, no ballads or acoustic tracks, no experiments or instrumentals, just college-rock song after college-rock song. The drumming is also uninspired compared with the earlier records.

That being said, I think Mould reached his peak and perfected his style so I still like the record a lot...
2748171, Overall, love it, with reservations.

>Especially compared with their earlier stuff?

Well, it's really a different genre than their earlier stuff--it's college rock, as you said, not punk/post-punk/hardcore. So I love Land Speed Record for what it is, but same with Warehouse.

>Personally, I
>think that while Mould's songs are uniformly strong (¤almost),
>the only good Hart-songs are "¤Back from somewhere" and "She's
>floating away".

"Charity, Chastity" is okay too, IMO, but I feel you. But I'm not a huge Hart fan on the early stuff either, with the exception of his songs on New Day Rising.

But on Warehouse I agree with you that Bob perfects his style of writing--kinda masters what he started on Flip Your Wig--and a few of his tracks on Warehouse are his most accomplished work, to my ears. Songs like "Could You Be the One" and "Friend, You've Got to Fall" are pretty close to pop-rock masterpieces.

>Also, it's possibly the least diverse double-album

Side 4 shouldn't have existed at all, not only for lack of diversity, but for quality.

>I've ever
>heard with song-after-song of 80's college-rock. Compared with
>their earlier albums, there's no hardcore/punk, no ballads or
>acoustic tracks, no experiments or instrumentals, just
>college-rock song after college-rock song. The drumming is

Not only that, but the production is just freakin' horrible. The trebly shimmer just sucks, and the drum sounds are so bad they confuse me...like, who the fuck engineered this bullshit?

If you've seen or listened to the "Circle of Friends" DVD with Brendan Canty on drums...listening to that is what Warehouse should have sounded like in the first place.

So yeah: love it, but it has problems.
2748326, it's a flawless album that i can't fully appreciate.

all the songs are great,
but they are all so similar to one another that
after about half and hour you start to wonder if they are really
that great.

it all runs together.

i love the album, kinda.

Recently ordered a copy of was (not was)' what up dog - one of those albums that there's no shortage of inexpensive copies due to the hit. Anyways, I think I paid less than a dollar + shipping - upon arrival I discovered the cover had been autographed by David Was, Sir Harry Bowens, and Sweet Pea Atkinson (personalized to someone named "Roman"). Nice surprise, but there was some water damage to the back insert so I re-ordered to have a clean copy. Still, will hang onto the signed version for the novelty of it - quite a fluke. Seller was one of those larger third-party sellers, I doubt they even noticed (item condition was listed as 'like new' despite water damage).
