I thought this guy Gucci Mane was supposed to be a funny jokester type cat, yet I never really enjoy his songs like ODB or Biz or someone. Just sounds like a degenerate. Chorus is sluggish, beat is anonymous.

You can barely compare some modern hip-hop acts to what happened five years ago, comparing him to artists decades earlier is unfair. But in a subgenre where people take themselves too serious (the rise of the Chief Keefs) or play up the parody image a bit too much (2 Chains) Gucci's always had pretty fun and lighthearted wordplay. He was also for a minute one of the best hook men around (a la 50 Cent) even though his delivery was never as strong.
