2728357, Where do you rank/place Meshell Ndegeocello as an artist?

A lot of times when we discuss musical artists there comes a point in the conversation where an artist has a flaw or some area of weakness in their discography or ability to create music. I've never perceived this in Ndegeocello, don't get me wrong I know no-one is perfect but she's about as good as it gets.

Who would you say her musical equivalent is in any genre?

not enough money tracks and she didn't have balance in that regard 1)

can play and is talented, however misses the mark as a solo artist IMO 2)

if she had a balance in R&B,Pop and Jazz then she might be considered the female Marcus Miller(she would need a Luther to Produce) or Branford Marsalis.

i just feel she missed that chance at being a Great artist IMO.

a bit over the top and heavy handed in areas.

IMO 93-97 was her best chance and she dropped the ball.
2728378, Bad to the bone....especially her slow jams. ALL of them

Extremely talented and very underrated.
2728420, top tier for me.

Meaning, I'll travel to see her shows, I buy her new releases w/out hearing them first, her stuff is in regular rotation in the house, and when I take the time to really *listen distraction-free*, I know it'll be a great experience.

She's one of the few artists who has clearly *increased* in skill over time, whose earlier albums get less play from me than her later or more recent albums.

So, um, top tier.
