2703218, Makaveli had Suge Knight references?
Posted by Brew, Fri May-25-12 10:54 AM
Anyone know what Mike Dean is referring to here (end of the article)? Were they disses? If not, why'd they take them out?

2703221, Yea I saw that article too..I figure Suge took them out since he
Posted by Menphyel7, Fri May-25-12 11:02 AM
owned the label..You know people say in the intro to Makevli it says "SUGE shot me".

I heard it was some more disses to Suge. Remember Makaveli was suppoused to be his "black" album and he was just going to put it out hence the name change and it was suppoused to be underground. It was more street more personal more Me against the world raw 2pac than the more radio friendly all eyes on me. Then he was going to keep releasing singles form All eyes on me to keep the buzz going.

2pac was trying to get the hell outta Death row as soon as his contract was up he saw that place was no good but he didn't get out in time.
2703222, Wild stuff. Thanks for the info.
Posted by Brew, Fri May-25-12 11:06 AM
2703245, i knew about all this except
Posted by makaveli, Fri May-25-12 11:54 AM
i didn't know there were actual disses to suge.
2703246, i wish i could hear this unedited version
Posted by makaveli, Fri May-25-12 11:55 AM
or at least know what was said.
2703249, Same.
Posted by Brew, Fri May-25-12 12:01 PM
2703277, I agree... Pac was at his most wild back then
Posted by Dr Claw, Fri May-25-12 12:42 PM
>or at least know what was said.

of all rappers, the one that reminded me of him in that timeframe was Nas when he was just MAD at the world around the time of "Ether" (the Power 105 rant, the threat to hang Jay-Z in effigy and all of that).
2703284, This sounds awesome...

Do we have sound clips of this or anything?
2703360, Haha, yeah Nas was going at everybody for a minute
Posted by DJR, Fri May-25-12 03:55 PM
I remember that rant where he was like "Nore I got love for you but your album is garbage, step your game up. Cam, you had a hot single but your album is garbage".

Then he went on about how with his next album he was going to school all these rappers on how to be men in this game, or some shit.
2703703, Hahaha that is phenomenal material.
Posted by Brew, Sun May-27-12 04:11 PM
I'm so glad The Takeover happened. It rejuvenated Nas' career because it pissed him the fuck off. Like "I'm the best MC in this game, and this is the thanks I get?"

Does anyone have links to any of these interviews? I don't recall them really but I want to see/read/hear them.
2703737, yep that shit was so funny and tru
Posted by Menphyel7, Sun May-27-12 08:59 PM
Like no one would never do that shit today in this PC twitter world.
2703265, few things. #1 why doesn't Mike Dean get more work?
Posted by Stadiq, Fri May-25-12 12:35 PM

#2 I'm not sure about the disses they took out. But I know some of the song changes they made to the tracklist was a shame.

Now, I'm a Pac head and I love that album.

BUT

Had they kept some of the songs that were supposed to be on there (Friends, When Thugs Cry, Lost Souls)

it would have been even better

#3 Blasphemy is a DOPE song. Random? Yes, but had to say it.
2703275, Blasphemy might be my fav Pac song ever
Posted by Menphyel7, Fri May-25-12 12:41 PM

>#3 Blasphemy is a DOPE song. Random? Yes, but had to say it.

and that might be his best "lyrical mcing" type song ever which is crazy that he might have been getting techinally better that late into his carrer. 7 day theory and makaveli 2 might have his best "rapping" out of all his albums.

I think cause he didn't have to please anyone that shit might have been really the first "mixtape album" you have now.

I mean they wanted the album to sell so they did change it up to make it sell more since they cash cow was dead now.
2703303, wouldn't argue with anyone picking Blasphemy...
Posted by Stadiq, Fri May-25-12 01:15 PM

yeah, I think there was an interview after AEOM dropped (maybe Vibe?) and he told the report that that album was for the label

and the next one was for HIM

something like that...and he was all hyped for it

Whats crazy is that he was barely 25 and as far as YEARS in music, not **that** deep into his career.

2703292, Why doesn't he get more work?
Posted by SP1200, Fri May-25-12 12:53 PM
I mean, he only works with Kanye full time now. I think he's doing pretty good for himself.
2703300, yeah, I mean with other artists and stuff
Posted by Stadiq, Fri May-25-12 01:10 PM

Dude should get more love.
2703334, I think it's more of him being picky about who he works with
Posted by CMcMurtry, Fri May-25-12 02:39 PM
2703758, I'd say he's had a pretty nice roster
Posted by Nodima, Sun May-27-12 11:57 PM
especially considering he was pretty exclusive to rap-a-lot artists for most of his career.

C-Bo
Big Mike
Bun B
Devin the Dude
Big Sean
Do or Die
Facemob
Geto Boys
Jay-Z
Kanye West
Juvenile
Kurupt
Mike Jones
Odd Squad
Paul Wall
Pimp C
Rappin' 4-Tay
Scarface
Shyne
Snoop Dogg
Dogg Pound
Trae
Yukmouth
Z-Ro
3-2 3x Krazy

2703296, i love all those songs but i don't know if they fit
Posted by makaveli, Fri May-25-12 12:58 PM
except for when thugs cry maybe.
2703299, i'm sure you've seen the xxl on the making of makaveli album
Posted by makaveli, Fri May-25-12 01:01 PM
one of the outlaws was saying they were listening to blasphemy in the car on the way home and pac was like "do you hear what i'm saying on this shit? i don't know how i come up with this stuff." like he actually freaked himself out.

ps mike dean has been the man since the rap-a-lot days.
2703301, haha yeah
Posted by Stadiq, Fri May-25-12 01:12 PM

dope

I don't know, I think they fit...

definitely better than say Toss It Up IMO
2703324, agreed on toss it up
Posted by makaveli, Fri May-25-12 02:13 PM
and maybe just like daddy.
2703354, I thought "Toss It Up" was perfect on there
Posted by Goose, Fri May-25-12 03:33 PM
sure it was his radio track, but Jesus he sounds pissed off on it.

I think "To Live & Die in LA" is a little too laid back, and I would probably cut that (even though its a dope track) and White Mans World (just cuz its the only song I dont really like).

I wonder what the track listing originally looked like not only on this album but Life After Death also.
2703359, cut white man's world over toss it up...U white? lol
Posted by Menphyel7, Fri May-25-12 03:43 PM
but white man's world is that raw Pac shit. that shit is a classic.

I like Toss it up tho too just for the fact he diss DRe on a damn R&B club song who does that.
2703362, haha right? GREAT song. Dude slapped the mic at the end he
Posted by Stadiq, Fri May-25-12 04:08 PM

was so emotional/into it.

2703767, white man's world might be the best song on that album
Posted by Playa_Politician, Mon May-28-12 12:42 AM
if it was for hold ya head.

damn pac killed that album.

time goes by puffin on lye hope'n that it gets me high

i pass his casket gently asking "is there heaven for G's?"

Have you ever seen a crackhead? now that's eternal fire

blinded by my passion and fury, look at me laugh at my competition flashin my jewelry

june 1 6 7 1 the dayyy, momma pushed me out her womb told me nigga get paid.

picked you up when you was 9, started out my life of crime wit you, bought you some shells when you turned 22

came so close to going to jail, throwin blows at the po po breakin ya nails

Staring at walls of Silence, inside this cage where they captured all my rage and violence
2703302, The interviewer didn't bite at the bone dean threw him
Posted by kevb, Fri May-25-12 01:13 PM
His response was "okay, cool"?

Kev
