Mainly west coast music got played because it had harder content. East coast wasn't really getting play like that. That's why when I heard some I knew it had to be something serious. My uncles and their crew had PE, EPMD, Eric B & Rakim, BDP, Slick Rick, LL and surprisingly even De La bumping during the late 80's. I can't front though they only played Buddy, Potholes and Plug Tunin. They clowned that album for the most part. I came across BDK and Kool G on my own later on.
