2686775, Spin-off Post: Rappers without a co-sign from any other rappers Posted by ChampAreno, Mon Apr-16-12 04:09 PM
I thought of this after seeing Childish Gambino bringing Kendrick and Danny Brown on stage at Coachella. He's been rapping for a few years now and I never heard another rapper mention him or cosign him as a rapper. I get that people don't like him, they think he's corny/gay/wack whatever, but dude got pretty far on his own no?
Think of all the other 'new' rappers out now, they all got some sort of support from rappers already in the game. Big Sean got Ye, Cole got Hov, Kendrick got Dre, Drake with Wayne, Wiz and Snoop and so on. CG, up until last weekend, seemed to have no support within the hip hop community, maybe that performance will help him out. Are there any others that come to mind? I was thinking Danny Brown but he came up w/ Yayo.

2686780, Dude is a famous actor/comedian... Posted by Crash85, Mon Apr-16-12 04:18 PM
he doesn't need a co-sign to push his shit...
and Dre shouted out Kendrick shortly before Section80 came out... Not saying it didn't help him, but I think most Kendrick fans could give a shit whether Dre co-sign him... Overly Dedicated created a buzz for Kendrick...

2687049, What? Drake needed a co-sign and he was a successful actor Posted by zuma1986, Tue Apr-17-12 07:21 AM

He comes from the Wale school of "just rap about whatever fast enough and with the same flow and people will think its solid."

didn't Cool and Dre, who produced for Camp Lo, also produce some tracks for Jay-Z on Reasonable Doubt?

I think you mean Ski Beatz
I don't think Cool & Dre even existed until early 2000s

2687236, brown didn't come up with yayo Posted by blakegriffin32, Tue Apr-17-12 03:21 PM
i'm one of like 20 people who listened to that album and nothing happened because of the yayo cosign. xxx got him the internet fame and rise (still very small).
and donald glover doesn't have rap fans. 99% of his fanbase are people who watch his tv show.
