Donny had power, smoothness and perfect tone and pitch. Don't get me
wrong Luther can sang and had the lil smoothness for the ladies on lock.
But if you listen to Donny's entire catalog and really understand what
he was doing vocally, there's no way Luther can touch that man's vocals.
Donny is one of the most naturally and technically gifted singers to ever
do it. Luther simply had the ladies crooner gimmick. Donny never had
ONE piece of smoke or mirror with his shit.

um we're not talking about freddie jackson, we're talking about LUTHER. you probably need to go back & take your own advice wrt donnie and apply it to luther.

I know who we talkin about and he ain't seein no Donny in no respect. I
done acknowledged the man could sang. However he had his thing and stuck
to it in his comfort zone. Nailing a Donny song the way Donny sang it is
100x harder than singing a song by Luther because Luther always stayed in that
vocal comfort zone.

So that's where I'm going.

Donny has the better & more interesting voice -- a nice earthiness

But I know and like Luther's songs better because I grew up on him and Donny's peak is a few years before my time.

I'm starting to realize just how dope this man was in his prime. behind that mic.
