2678567, Favorite track on "Black Radio"?
Posted by wheels, Tue Mar-27-12 04:01 PM
I caught the Experiment live at The New Parish in Oakland a little more than week ago and was amazed. I love the fusion of styles and influences on "Black Radio". "Cherish The Day", "Gonna Be Alright (F.T.B.)", "Why Do We Try", and "Smells Like Teen Spirit" are my favorite cuts on the album, but the whole album is solid front to back.

What are your favorite tracks/moments on the album?

It's the only one that feels "experimental."
I like the album, but it feels like an album full of "the sad soul song on a Jill Scott album."
You know what I mean?
It's like track 6 of the everyday, neo/contemporary R&B album. Slow, sad, long - NOT BAD, but not what I was expecting.

I'm Lupe stan to the umpteenth power.

Why Do We Try would be second off the top of my head.

1. "Smells Like Teen Spirit" (Generally don't pay attention to covers of this song much, but if you know me, you know why this is here)

2. "Move Love" (I have no idea why I like it so much despite it being so stereotypically "neo-soul" and "Okayplayer-circa the early '00s" friendly)

3. "Cherish The Day" (you already know)

and now I'm aggressively stalking the works of Casey Benjamin as he is taking the Dream of Claw to the stage in the 2010s.
2678856, At this point I can honestly say it's Cherish The Day

Gets me every time. At one point it was tied with Why Do We Try but it pulled ahead for the win...for now.
