2675828, Well...Now we know how to steal Jay's music...

Very dumb of Guru to say this (#12):

http://www.inflexwetrust.com/2012/03/12/whoa-15-really-dope-things-we-never-knew-about-jay-z-revealed-by-young-guru/
2675848, mmhmm...pleas copped with this one

"Purposefully Fell Back On Watch The Throne"

Young Guru: “Watch the Throne, that was Jay’s way of going, ‘Here, here’s the whole project for you to do. I’m gonna fall back and just interject my lines and here and there.’ The concept of that album was wholly directed by Kanye. That’s probably the first time that Jay ever did that but it was on purpose.

“Jay has been wanting to put people out, like, ‘Here, I’m giving you your start.’ But he’s not gonna do the groundwork for you, he’s not gonna run around and make the meetings for you. You’re gonna have to do all that yourself.

“Kanye was the first person that took it, ran with it, and it’s outside of Jay. He loves that so it’s a thing of where now we can both share this responsibility of being hot.

“With Watch the Throne, Kanye put his foot in it. He definitely brought a new style, pushed Jay in terms of styling and where they wanted to go. I think he also just hit the nail on the head by accepting tracks from outside producers that he found was hot.

“Between that and the visual presentation—Kanye is super visual, so having the two stages with the things rising up and down and the lights is Kanye’s vision. When it came to the tour, Jay was like, ‘Nah Guru, let they camp do it.’

“I think that’s why Jay allowed him to do that—and it also allows him to fall back a little bit and have a baby. ”
2675851, Haha - was thinking the EXACT same thing.
Posted by Brew, Tue Mar-20-12 09:32 PM
Almost ruined an otherwise pretty cool article for me.
2675953, idk seemed obvious it was mainly a kanye (feat. jay) album.
Posted by BrooklynWHAT, Wed Mar-21-12 01:20 AM
hov had his moments, but you know kanye was guiding the creative process & direction
2676032, That wasn't the point tho...
Posted by Brew, Wed Mar-21-12 09:09 AM
Of course Kanye was guiding the overall direction, because he's way more artistically inclined than Jay is. The fact that Guru felt the need to say that Jay "purposely fell back" is what's funny here. It's better off not said. Sounds like plea coppage, akin to "I dumbed down for my audience..."
2677185, that's funny because jay consistently outshined kanye on that album
Posted by Benedict the Moor, Fri Mar-23-12 10:25 AM
in terms of lyrics and flow.

kanye's flow on NIP and HAM should have never left the hard drive.
2677187, Word - I don't like that album either way so I can't really...
Posted by Brew, Fri Mar-23-12 10:29 AM
speak to it. I think I listened to it 2x through. But I've heard from a majority of people who love the album that Kanye outshone Jay all over the place.

So, based on that, I was just saying that I think it's wack for his engineer to come out and basically cop a plea based on some feedback he probly heard.
2677194, see, i heard it the other way around too
Posted by justin_scott, Fri Mar-23-12 10:44 AM
i've seen a lot of "jay outshines kanye"
2677199, i mean, it's really not that hard to discern
Posted by Benedict the Moor, Fri Mar-23-12 10:52 AM
kanye slept-rapped through at least 1/3rd of the album.

jay at least gave the impression he cared.
2675938, youtube battles bout to reach an all-time high lol

Posted by thebadnegro, Wed Mar-28-12 11:47 AM
nah, i think it's better this way, like a book that allows u to paint your own pictures. either way i'll never be able to walk into a Cheesecake Factory again without thinkin about the legendary battle.
2676794, It'd be hilarious if he already knew.
Posted by JFrost1117, Thu Mar-22-12 01:27 PM
In the off chance you got to hold a convo with him. I would go into a coma if he randomly mentioned " This one battle I saw was at a Cheesecake Factory..."

As funny as Aziz on Juan Epstein talking about how Hov hates Short Circuit.
2676808, You're Right It's Going To Be A Massive Output Of Battles Now..
Posted by Dj Joey Joe, Thu Mar-22-12 01:53 PM
...being uploaded to tubeyou just cause they want Jay-Z to see them, but to me I just see Jay looking at those as "America's Funniest Home Videos" type of situation and not serious like he's looking for a new rapper to put on or big up.

2676750, RE: Well...Now we know how to steal Jay's music...
Posted by howisya, Thu Mar-22-12 11:51 AM
>Whether I mix them or not, I gather all the mixes.
>If Timbalands guy mixed this and Pharrell mixed this,
>I got all the mixes. I go present all the mixes to our mastering guy.
>I sit with the mastering guy doing the tweeks and EQing, doing the
>spacing in-between the records, all of that stuff. And we put the
>whole album together.

NO WONDER THEY ALWAYS SOUND SO LOUD
2676925, why is that 'very dumb' to say? ain't like you know where he's got it
Posted by Bombastic, Thu Mar-22-12 04:37 PM
or all the sudden it just occurred to some aspiring armed robbers 'maybe Jay's shit is kept by guru'.
2677126, I don't get that either. He didn't say he keeps them in a shoebox
Posted by Buddy_Gilapagos, Fri Mar-23-12 08:27 AM
under his bed, he just said he is the gatekeeper for all music. What, someone going to kidnap this dude for Jay's music?

**********
Peace to the Gods.
2677177, lol @ the thought of someone stealing jay's rhymes
Posted by justin_scott, Fri Mar-23-12 09:59 AM
then recording them and releasing them.

like, i can see in my head, someone breaking into jay's house, finding diamonds, cash, paintings, etc, then finding a shoebox under the bed with notebooks of rhymes and taking that and leaving everything else.
2678792, "My name is Jay / and I'm here to say...
Posted by howisya, Wed Mar-28-12 12:18 AM
these type of rhymes come to me like every day"
-rapped by some dumb rapping thief not even named Jay
2678798, Dude.....I think it was Problem's manager or somebody I met
Posted by -DJ R-Tistic-, Wed Mar-28-12 12:29 AM
back in 2005. He said somebody met a 16 year old who had RHYMES....and they told him that he sounded JUST like Kanye. So they had dude come to their studio, and Problem was there like let me see if this dude is dope. He rapped...and soon as he left, Prob said "ayy.......that shit sounded familiar as hell....we gotta get him to come back later on."

He came back later, and Problem's homie who knew ALL Kanye's shit was there this time....lil dude started rappin some shit bout "I got a C L Kaaaaaay" sounding just like Kanye as usual, and two bars later, Prob's homie starts smiling, nodding his head...and rapping along with him!!!!! After two bars, the kid realized what was happening and he stopped....and EVERYBODY was laughin....dude said "YOU STOLE ALL THAT SHIT FROM KANYE'S UNRELEASED MIXTAPE!!!!! I GOT THAT SHIT!!!!!!!"
2678808, Lmao. Here's an original of mine. I call it Through The Wire.

lol @ "When youre doing a double album, and you really only have 17 songs, you start to do filler records. Then we do songs like As One. We shouldve never did that."
