Admittedly, there was a time when I cared what other folks thought of gays...so much so that I wasn't willing to admit that I was one myself.

That has changed. And this is honestly in the past 2-3 years.

Since finding out that my few real true friends could care less about who I'm fucking and care more about me as a person, my attitude is more of "I'm going to be 100% me, like it or not". That being said, I'm not as concerned with acceptance as I used to be. If being gay keeps fake, flighty or questioning people away from me, that's less fuckery that I gotta deal with, so, yay and shit.

I realize what you're saying, and I don't take offense, however, this reads like:

"If I were part of a minority group that were hated for some part of being ourselves, I'd want to change to be more accepted by the masses."

Is that where you were going with that statement?
