2660127, Has anyone yet mentioned A$AP Rocky and Aesop Rock? Posted by roderick, Fri Feb-10-12 01:47 AM
Its pretty obvious that how ill Aesop is, but has this A$AP Rocky rap guy kinda overshadowed the latter to the mainstream? I can honestly say I haven't heard A$AP, but I have had my fill of Curre$y, Wiz, and the whole Jet Life ish. Is this just a name coincidence or WTF?

2660156, why the fuck do some people confuse these two on this board? Posted by Nodima, Fri Feb-10-12 07:15 AM
I mean what are you getting at? "They have very different names on paper that don't sound alike out loud so isn't it kind of interesting that nobody's talking about this?"

2660157, Cause they are idiots Posted by BigReg, Fri Feb-10-12 07:28 AM
"Is Bun B mad that Lil B is bigger then him?" "Is Outkast mad B.O.B stole their song title?"
People think this is real music discussion. Disgusting.

2660337, i think it's hilarious that people can say the names aren't similar. Posted by al_sharp, Fri Feb-10-12 02:13 PM
i mean you can feel how you feel about either one of the artists. it doesn't matter really. but to say the names aren't similar?
come the fuck on.

2660414, they coincidently soun similar but there is a distinct diff btw Posted by mwasi kitoko, Fri Feb-10-12 04:06 PM
ASAP and Aesop first of all they mean two completely diff thing two, they are not pronounced the same
rocky and rock again, close but not the same
in conclusion i bet 100$ asap had no idea who aesop rock was when he came up qith his name an he prolly still dont know who he is.

2660419, I'm about 99% sure you're wrong on both counts. Posted by CondoM, Fri Feb-10-12 04:10 PM
Even if he says otherwise, I'd not believe him.
|
2660433, i actually do believe that he didn't know of aesop Posted by fontgangsta, Fri Feb-10-12 04:31 PM
when he first did his name - i asked blockhead about it and that's what he told me. but i would imagine that he knows of him at this point.

2660546, AY ESS AY PEE vs. AY-SOP Posted by Nodima, Fri Feb-10-12 07:00 PM
I mean, are people calling him AY SAP? Is he calling himself that? I don't notice it on the album if he does, I call him A S A P Rocky.
So if it's all about me saying it different than everyone else, fine. My mind's not wired like y'alls'

2660201, I heard Posted by beatnik, Fri Feb-10-12 10:30 AM
They're doing a song about the music biz called "A&R"
|
2660203, the very first time i heard of asap was a few months ago Posted by woe.is.me., Fri Feb-10-12 10:51 AM
he had a show in ny that a bunch of style bloggers i know were going to. they were like "we going to the asap show" and i said "you mean aesop rock? yeah he's alright."
its not at all an unreasonable comparison to make for someone familiar with the def jux guy and not the n00b.

2660208, Hopefully the Danny Brown connection leads to A$AP over Aesop beats Posted by Brougham 2334, Fri Feb-10-12 11:02 AM
Would be dope imo.
Off Aes's twitter:
AesopRockWins Only because I get asked about 10 times a day - I truly and honestly do not give a fuck that me and ASAP Rocky have similar names.
