Sitting here, revisiting the album and it still knocks. It doesn't
Feel a few years old.

it's on my mp3 player now. i play it on long bus rides every now and then. like someone else said, his musical range is quite wide. he's just as comfortable rapping as singing old soul songs and rock n' roll.

word is he's supposed to have a double album out later on this year.

2660071, one of my favorite artists, no question

this album and everything else he's put out stays on repeat. loved this album, don't play it as much as JR but it's great nonetheless.
2660087, RE: Joyful Rebellion is better.

2660225, don't agree at all

K-os improved the style of JR on Atlantis in my opinion.

I don't think there has ever been a more versatile album where the artist covers so many different styles of music and still makes the album sound cohesive.

There isn't even a low point on the album.

but tracks 5 - 8 are just really special.

I love JR as well, but I think K-os aimed to make similar albums with both and executed a bit better on Atlantis.
2660237, Yep. Co-sign all this.

And all his albums. But this one really shows his versatility.

I think I've usually been in the minority but Valhalla has always been one of my 3 favorite tracks off that album. It just showcases everything he can do.
2660411, Totally agree with almost everything in this post

Love that album all the way through. Was anybody else let down by his next release though? After I heard 4,3,2,1, I was excited but I thought that Yes! veered too far away from the eclectic and more organic sounds of Atlantis. Yes! wasn't bad at all, but I hope he moves back towards the JR/Atlantis sound on the next one
2660446, Agree.

Exact same thing happened to me. I heard 4,3,2,1 and thought Yes! would be on the same level or higher than JR/Atlantis. I guess it's gotta be pretty difficult to live up to those standards but he raised his game (IMO) from JR to Atlantis so I guess I just expected Yes! to be the same. That said, I still really like Yes!, just saying it wasn't AS good.

Damn fans and our expectations and shit.
2660488, his catalog is underappreciated.
