I love Donny and Sam but they did not have the subtlety and diversity in their singing that Marvin had. His mic technique was meticulous, almost scientific even. Donny had a richer, fuller tone but vocally he did not cover all the bases that Marvin did. It's not an official Marvin album but Vulnerable is perhaps the greatest example of Mr. Gaye's mastery of his God-given instrument.
