I see this all the time. El P, Atmosphere..those type of artists are somehow more complex and deeper than say Scarface or Saigon who use a more direct approach. Never understood why people see writing songs that are only understood by a few people (if at all) makes someone complex or smart. The most complex thing any lyricist can do IMO is write songs that everyone can relate to on some level without a damn thesaurus and a psych 101 class.
