the purpose of its existence other than the basic fact that I enjoy it or don't. Social institutions, for example. DNA.
The songs you posted, I get exactly why they were written and really like/love them, but they aren't baffling to me. Nor are they intended to be, other than "can you believe I am talking about something that people accept?"
But it's always rooted in reality. To me, complexity is often somewhat absurd.
