Whatever. I'll take rocknroll lyrics over soul lyrics. For whatever reason....I'll make that declaration. I'll speak recklessly and say that soul music, to me, replaced the 'Jesus' with 'my baby'. But the artistry of the genre we call 'soul' is not in the lyrics...it's in the performance of the players.

But hip hop lyrics are the BEST form of lyricism in American music imo.
