2562792, new track from radiohead!
Posted by A Love Supreme, Tue Jun-21-11 05:41 AM
http://youtu.be/tFTLxkMmY4M

from the description:
Here's a new track called Staircase, taken from our upcoming 'From The Basement' session.

And no, you're not seeing double. The doppelganger drummers are myself and Clive Deamer. Clive has long been one of my favourite drummers and so I was really excited when he agreed to perform with us. Hope you like what we've all done.

2562796, Thom's hair is so bouncy and luxurious.

It'll be interesting to see what else comes from this From the Basement performance. It was supposed to be King of Limbs performed in it's entirety, yet the first release is a new fucking song!!!

Posted by doubleP, Tue Jun-21-11 07:15 AM
Fucking Finally!

I've been waiting on this since it was debuted over a year ago as "Chris Hodge" in NYC at that show with Atoms for Peace.

What a great fucking jam.
2563009, up

dopeness....
2563159, I dig this more than anything on The King Of Limbs.
Posted by Killer Mike Lowery, Tue Jun-21-11 11:38 PM
I think I liked one song on that album.
2563561, this not fucking with Sepeartor
Posted by Menphyel7, Wed Jun-22-11 04:59 PM
2563713, Ah, the wannabe Deep Space 9mm drum song...
Posted by Killer Mike Lowery, Wed Jun-22-11 11:48 PM
I'll give you that one.

Infact, that's the only song I liked on the album.
2563716, RE: Or 'Lotus Flower.'
Posted by Austin, Wed Jun-22-11 11:52 PM
Or 'Codex.'

Or 'Little by Little.'

Hmph.

Seems the King of Limbs was pretty strong after all, wasn't it?

I'm really tired of kids complaining because it was "short."

~Austin
2563721, You can keep all that.
Posted by Killer Mike Lowery, Thu Jun-23-11 12:02 AM
2563732, RE: Have fun on Farcebook.
Posted by Austin, Thu Jun-23-11 12:25 AM
Do your friends there tell you you're right about everything music-related?

~Austin
2563739, I haven't really felt a Radiohead album since...
Posted by Killer Mike Lowery, Thu Jun-23-11 12:44 AM
Hail to the Thief.

With that said, I really enjoyed Thom's solo album.

And it's an opinion.

As far as your facebook jab...

You're a "Charter member" on Okayplayer.

And you're still here.

And these boards aren't what they once were.

And I KNOW this first hand, despite my post count.

So you can keep that, bud.

2563745, RE: So you haven't liked anything they've done for at least five years.
Posted by Austin, Thu Jun-23-11 01:00 AM
Why are you still commenting?

Don't be a contrarian twat.

Sure, I may have been here since '99. But I've struggled to make it to the (contextually speaking) low post count that I have. Posting (admittedly esoteric bullshit) on the once great —and still occasionally engaging— music discussion forum the Lesson really doesn't compare to the disgusting self-fellatio that Farcebook always has been.

And Hail is overrated.

~Austin
2563759, Reading comprehension, my dude...
Posted by Killer Mike Lowery, Thu Jun-23-11 01:48 AM
I haven't liked an "album" since...

I never said I haven't liked individual songs.

And Hail might be overrated.

It's certainly not my favorite Radiohead album.

That would be Kid A.

And I don't care if that is stereotypical.

It's my opinion.

At this point I'd rather listen to The National...

if we're talking entire albums.

That's me.

I'll ignore the "Don't be a contrarian twat" comment.

You show yourself with that.
2563773, RE: Don't be offended.
Posted by Austin, Thu Jun-23-11 02:56 AM
You're being a contrarian twat by coming into an otherwise Radiohead appreciation post all like, 'Yeah, they kind of suck.'

We've all done it, man. Just don't deny that that's what you did.

Sorry I used the word "twat" if that's the part that offended you.

And you mentioned Hail first. Just trying to keep things relevant.

Reading comprehension does not come into play here. Take responsibility for your own words. You say you don't like albums. This equates that you don't like a majority percentage of the band's output. You can like songs, absolutely. But you yourself said you don't like albums. What am I to surmise? I'm not really here to digest semantics this much, but surely you can see my point?

And yes, Kid A *is* rather awesome, isn't it?

~Austin
2563799, Not offended at all, pal...
Posted by Killer Mike Lowery, Thu Jun-23-11 07:09 AM
Like I said, you're just showing yourself.

Thing is though, I don't think they suck.

I didn't say they suck.

If it's not reading comprehesion...

you have an assumption problem.

Staircase is dope to me.

I shouldn't have to explain this.

You can clearly read it for yourself.

Did I enjoy The King Of Limbs?

Not really.

Someone pointed out Separator.

I agreed.
2563828, whoa... you didn't like In Rainbows??? not that you're wrong
Posted by DonWonJusuton, Thu Jun-23-11 09:02 AM
i just haven't heard that from any radiohead fans... i think it entered a 3-way tie for my favorite RH album... and maybe the *best* or most "radiohead"..
2564084, I liked a few songs, but overall...
Posted by Killer Mike Lowery, Thu Jun-23-11 06:54 PM
not so much as a whole.

And it wasn't for lack of trying.

I actually bought a hard copy...

AFTER downloading it for free.
2563730, ^^^^^ thank you.
Posted by DonWonJusuton, Thu Jun-23-11 12:22 AM
it's a compact and focused listen... i guess i can kind of see it not *hitting* audiences on a first listen, but this is the kind of shit i wanted to spend some time w/.. there are def. a lot of great great moments on the album.. and i think the transition from the end of Separator to the beginning of Bloom almost forces a back-to-back listen each time i play the album.. and it's short enough for me to be ok w/ doing that... i never understood ppl arguing over album length.. "only 8 songs?? they just didn't give me enough for my money!".. that's like saying a painting is worse than others because it happens to be smaller.. i don't get that logic..
2563733, RE: Dude, you know you just opened up the sentinel, right?

sessions... sounds like they're gonna capture the King of Limbs sound pretty well (not that i ever expect anything different from them)

Posted by murph71, Thu Jun-23-11 09:20 AM

Does anyone have a link for the King of Limbs album? If you do, in-box me with that joint...Thanks....

2563925, I love radiohead but watching them in the studio...
Posted by __Spread__, Thu Jun-23-11 11:49 AM
I don't feel the music as much...to me they are the perfect headphone music...seeing them just changes the vibe for me for some reason...

I like how Thom still uses that old-ass ribbon mic though
and if you are a drummer you gotta love the SPDS...I love that machine
2564002, i'm going to assume you've never seen them live?
Posted by DonWonJusuton, Thu Jun-23-11 02:06 PM
they're one of the few bands that i can't decide whether they're better on record or on stage... seriously amazing stuff... i HIGHLY recommend catching them in concert
2564022, in concert is different
Posted by __Spread__, Thu Jun-23-11 02:54 PM
I saw them once and loved it...
but I have seen a few studio performances of theirs on TV and it just changes the way i listen to them in particular, i don't know why...i'm sure its just me...I'm not knocking their live performance though...they are great in concert...
2571911, they're better live...no question about it to me
Posted by gumz, Tue Jul-12-11 01:01 PM
2572249, I really don't find them to be particularly special as a live act
Posted by Bombastic, Wed Jul-13-11 12:54 AM
they can play the songs they've recorded fairly capably true to the record with very little deviation & Thom wiggles around a bit while there's lots of lights.

If you love Radiohead, you'll enjoy them, if you're just a curious music fan & go to see it expecting some major revelation from one of this generation's most 'important' bands I'd say it'd be pretty easy to end up dissapointed.

The Hail to the Thief tour was nearly as mediocre as that album but luckily they tossed in some of their better earlier records into the mix.

In Rainbows tour was much better to me, probably a combination of a much better venue (Hollywood Bowl>>>>>>Camden NJ E-Center), better production values & better album to support.
2571709, and here is the whole basement session!

2572243, yo, i was dying to hear this shit... it's amazing, exceeded expectations
Posted by DonWonJusuton, Tue Jul-12-11 11:33 PM
i love the album as it is, but i realllly dig the live rendition... great 'traditional' compliment to the album... the guitars completely reinvent these songs.. i'm very impressed w/ this
2572512, looks like they've taken down the link already...
Posted by al_sharp, Wed Jul-13-11 03:15 PM
cos they wanna broadcast it on tv here in america soon.
