Bad meaning Terrible horrible.....

2560832, Turn it Out
Posted by l i f e, Wed Jun-15-11 04:08 PM
A lot of folks I know HATE Pawn Star. I personally like it.

My vote is for Turn It Out from the Osmosis Jones soundtrack
2560876, yo this turn it out is nice - beat is choppy like unbelievable

Lot's of power vocally - whoa, if they made music still like this, people would be hyped up.

edit: the bassline is insane - I haven't heard a bassline that impressive in a while.

The song got me moving like the old dayz.

but the vocal delivery is kinetic.

2560919, What's Weird Is That Song Isn't Even On The Clean/Edited Version...
Posted by Dj Joey Joe, Wed Jun-15-11 07:08 PM
...of the "Bonix" album, it's like the label thought it was too hard to clean that song up so they just left it off the clean version completely, and I wouldn't have known it was on there if I didn't cop the dirty version on vinyl.

Oh, and I like the "Hey Love" skit.
2560926, Hey Love isnt a skit it's a great short song to me & a personal favorite
Posted by Bombastic, Wed Jun-15-11 07:20 PM
for a variety of reasons both melodic & nostalgic.

Song reminds me of the hottest girl in my high school when I was a freshmen.

She was a junior.

I was bumping De La Is Dead out of a locker boombox (I had the little setup rigged on the top shelf) one day between classes.

She happened to be walking by and heard 'Hey Love' so she stopped to show off the little dance she'd created for it (basically just some cheerleader style arm bar stuff & a couple steps).

As soon as it ended, rewound it & played it again this time with the whole hall watching, me injecting my best Pos mumble/Rick-accent 'anwitchawrinklepussy/Cant Be Your Lover' bit.

Bonded over shared love of De La Soul at that moment & would play it on demand if she was passing my locker at the right time.

For a good stretch I had the rest of the freshmen dudes envious because I was the only one that girl give the time of day too.

I owed it all to the Plugs. Small thing I know but something that still puts a smile on my face twenty years later when I hear that high-note on the piano comes on & the drums kick in on that one.
2560963, reminds me of when the miss teen nebraska gave her senior pic

The single only one I can think of.

And I just listened to their entire discography front to back last month over the course of 2 weeks. So it's fresh in my mind.

And that is the only, one, singular track I can't listen to ... and the only one I skipped after about...25 seconds throughout the whole discog.

So yea. That's the one.

Otherwise, none.
2561068, Yes I Don't Care For That One

Love De La & Madlib, but that sh*t was horrible! worst track (and video) I ever heard.
2561137, Yea. Mad disappointing

considering the matchup of producer/rappers.

And it's like, I understand the need to attempt a radio single. I get it. But that shit wasn't even radio friendly. It wasn't friendly at all, to anyone.

Ooh is a good example of a radio friendly single that works for everyone.
2561144, Got a soft spot for that one too

A hot chick friend of mine said whenever she hears that song it makes her "want to fuck." I can't front on that power.
2561148, Hahaha!
Posted by Brew, Thu Jun-16-11 10:04 AM
Can't knock you for that, dood.

Though I still don't really understand how a track like this (even if I liked it) would make anyone horny. It ain't like the beat got that r&b groove to it or nothin'.

But again, to each their own and if you got it wet after she heard this track, can't blame you for lovin it haha.

2561676, "I got questions bout your life if you so Ready to Die"
Posted by Mageddon, Fri Jun-17-11 12:40 PM
It was a long time ago, but I seem to recall reading an interview where Biggie expressed disappointment about being called out, because he was a fan of them (groups like them?), and he always played their shit, even though some of his peeps weren't down with their music.

During the skit, part of the Mad Rapper's rant includes the quote "This is my 4th album yo..."

Stakes is High (De La's 4th album) had dropped a year earlier, and contains the quote that offended Biggie.

I might have been reaching, but that was my reasoning.

Neither are the title track, "Simply Havin'," "Baby Phat," "What We Do For Love," "Peer Pressure," and "Trying People." And as bad as "Pawn Star" is, it isn't boring.
