So fans consistently say Pooh is LB's weakest link. Fans want Tay solo joint. Fans love FE. 9th leaves LB. Fans plea for 9th to come back. Tay says he's tired of rap. LB breaks up. 9th and Tay kiss and make up. 9th and Tay make a new album together.

LOL. Pooh cant catch a break, huh? He's like the john paul jones of rap apparently. Getting left out of reunions.

2537571, Feel bad but isn't he?
Posted by zuma1986, Wed Apr-13-11 07:52 PM
No offense but how many ppl still listen to "Sleepers"? Not saying he's horrible but not on the level of Phonte as an MC and 9th was great when his was in LB.
2537573, You know he dropped an album this week right?
Posted by phemom, Wed Apr-13-11 08:01 PM
Fat Boy Fresh Vol. 1...I think it's an itunes only release.
2537579, AND IT"S BANGIN

....seriously so....i was a bit suprised, i didn't exect it to knock that hard...i expectd it to be st8 but he really seems to have stop givin a fuck about the critics and the music is better becasue of it...
2537580, Didn't know that
Posted by zuma1986, Wed Apr-13-11 08:09 PM
Judging on the fact that I couldn't find any topics on it only backs up my point. I mean compare that to the last Foreign Exchange album dropping and the tour announcement being anchored.
2538006, thanks I just bought it
Posted by radin, Thu Apr-14-11 07:01 PM
2537587, i still listen to 'sleepers'
Posted by squeeg, Wed Apr-13-11 08:29 PM
'The Delightful Bars' was kinda terrible, but 'Sleepers' still rocks. I haven't yet heard the new one.

2537723, I play "Sleepers" on the regular
Posted by Sleepy, Thu Apr-14-11 10:36 AM
I definitely play it more than GetBack or the Listening. Or either of the Dream Merchant joints.
2537610, lol

it was a running joke w/my friends that this was the plan all along; just a roundabout way of droppin pooh.

2537569, 9th had better get off that powdery snare shit he's been on
Posted by Garhart Poppwell, Wed Apr-13-11 07:41 PM
the past few years and make some real shit again
I don't think that polished style of beats he's been using lately fits Tigg well
the way Nic does it really fits Tay well, but he does it differently than 9th and its rare that it works for him
2537656, For the most part, I was cool with 9th's beats on the last Murs collabo

I'm hoping he's somewhere in that range again. I had no issue with drums and/or mixing on that one.

2537674, I haven't been fully satisfied with his production for Murs

since the first one, really
the hard drums/rough mixing catered to his style more, but thats just my opinion
2537583, Rather have another Little Brother album (w/9th) than that Phonte solo...
Posted by Crash85, Wed Apr-13-11 08:13 PM
I'm sure the solo will be nice, but Phonte, Pooh and 9th had something special... Whether you think Rapper was the weakest link or not, they're at their best when they're all working together...
2537690, ^^^^^^
Posted by kanino, Thu Apr-14-11 08:25 AM
I'm not even a fan of 9th but they had something going.
2538490, Ditto
Posted by Dj Joey Joe, Sat Apr-16-11 01:29 AM
I would rather have another Little Brother album with Ninthwonder back on production first then let Phonte do a solo (rap) album later on with 9th and any other producer he wants on it.

I think the excitement with the news is that Big Pooh never had a problem with Ninthwonder which is why he still had some beats by 9th on his solo albums but Phonte has been doing other musical projects without any Ninthwonder beats but no solo rap album.

I think we're just glad they're put their differences aside and want to do music together again.

2537590, great news, I'm amped to hear it

2537613, now i'm wondering what this album's gonna sound like
Posted by SsenepoD, Wed Apr-13-11 09:08 PM
cuz from talking with Tay & reading interviews & stuff I was picturing it being a slightly more boom bap version of Connected with elements of FE (& a lotta nicolay production).

if 9th gets back to his old dusty classic hiphop shit (as opposed to the more polished sound he has now...even though damn near every song had the same "sound" he found a way to make those samples talk to you man) this is gonna be awesome.

I'm hopin for a median feature to top it all off.

phonte sound great on that joint.
2537713, Cool, but why no Pooh?
Posted by phenompyrus, Thu Apr-14-11 10:11 AM
2537720, cuz its a solo???
Posted by Stadiq, Thu Apr-14-11 10:33 AM

Are you people slow?

Phonte has been planning a solo album for a minute.

We have all wanted it.

He finally gave us a date and some details on the album.

I for one am excited, because when Phonte raps...he is one of the best doing it.

Lets get excited for this and hope for an LB reunion in 2012...why does it have to be either/or??

The last 2 LB releases were meh anyway. Switch it up. Maybe the last track on the album will be a full out LB reunion song to get us hyped for an album down the line.

And I'm sorry to break it to you, but very very few people outside of okayplayer are going to miss Pooh...

2537753, Bruh, Im just saying, if 9th is producing most of it...
Posted by phenompyrus, Thu Apr-14-11 11:42 AM
Why not just let Pooh jump on that shit too and make it an LB proper?

If he's gonna do a solo joint, great, no problem with that, but sheeit, sorry if I want to hear him rock with some other beatsmiths.
2537932, Because that's not how good music happens
Posted by Cineno, Thu Apr-14-11 03:37 PM
I get what you're saying, but good music isn't a simple equation like x + y + z = classic.

If the artists don't share the same vision, the chemistry isn't there, etc., it ain't gonna sound good. At this point it would probably not sound like Little Brother, it would sound like Phonte produced by 9th featuring a Pooh verse. That ain't the same.

Mos and Kweli never had a falling out, and there still hasn't been a second Black Star album. They're in different places artistically compared to 13 years ago. It would sound forced and less like a group and more like just two dudes rhyming.

I'd rather them do what they want and do it well.
2538649, bing.

2538008, LB grew apart without 9th
Posted by Menphyel7, Thu Apr-14-11 07:05 PM
they said they rather be friends than mad bussiness partners.

Pooh probably be on a song I'm guessing or maybe not I'm excited either way
2538009, because people want a phonte solo
Posted by Oak27, Thu Apr-14-11 07:07 PM
way more than they want another lb album
2538025, disagree
Posted by radin, Thu Apr-14-11 08:22 PM
>way more than they want another lb album
2538491, I Wouldn't Be Surprised That Big Pooh Will Guest Appear On A Track
Posted by Dj Joey Joe, Sat Apr-16-11 01:34 AM
I mean just cause it's a solo album doesn't mean Phonte won't have any guest appearances on it and you know he will have plenty of them but I have a feeling that Big Pooh will make one and it will be on a track produced by Ninthwonder too.

2537754, dope.. hope it really happens
