2534147, I've very interested in this album
Posted by simpsycho, Mon Apr-04-11 02:03 PM
The first two singles were pretty much what I was expecting from Print, rhyme-wise at least. But So Alive is totally different and I can't wait to hear what the rest of the album sounds like.
2534172, yo

I bugged out when I heard that track

...damn, wish I could say I'm hyped about his new ish...love cats previous work, but the recent stuff just ain't hitten like his past ish...
2534472, Yep. I'll be coppin this
Posted by mrhood75, Tue Apr-05-11 10:47 AM
Had a chance to chop it up with Print and Illogic some months ago at one of their shows, and they sold me on the concept behind the album. I know dude is on some singing shit, and that gives some cats pause, but I know he's taking it from a lyrical/MC angle, so I'm giving it it's fair day in court. Plus, if you're fronting on "Radioinactive," then I don't know what the fuck to tell you.
2534677, just copped it
Posted by Goose, Tue Apr-05-11 04:52 PM
playing it now. "Radio-inactive" is one of my favorite songs out currently, and is why i bought that shit. So Alive and Keep Bouncing are dope too.

saw it in the store today, didnt buy it, gonna give it a listen first. Picked up the new Monch and PB&J albums, both great
2534745, eh, on first listen.... this aint for me
Posted by Oak27, Tue Apr-05-11 06:59 PM
moving on for now, maybe revisit later this week. couldn't get into it. liked a few tracks, but not even enough to feel compelled to go back and relisten to them in particular.

*continues to wait for that new atmosphere*
2534914, unfortunately....

2534852, i hate how much atmosphere's gonna overshadow this
Posted by Goose, Wed Apr-06-11 03:00 AM
RSE did blueprint really dirty. I've only listened to this once (and it was quite good), but I also received a copy of the new atmosphere record today (perks of a music journalist)and have played the family sign 4 times already.
2534958, how's that Atmosphere?

2535275, RE: how's that Atmosphere?

its a grower. at first wasnt crazy with all the guitar/key heavy tracks (mainly cuz i prefer their sample-based work), but the beats are great.

and slug is incredible. the subject matter is really grown up, and i think thats a great thing. this is the most mature sounding hip hop record ive ever heard, all these rappers pushing 40s should take note.
2535354, cool thanks

2535101, Have you seen those Dr. Ralph Borka RS has released...

2535357, That's kind of unfair
Posted by ko-d, Thu Apr-07-11 09:30 AM
I imagine scheduling album releases is difficult. That label seems more interested in putting out music the artist wants to make than any other label.
2535453, RE: That's kind of unfair
Posted by Goose, Thu Apr-07-11 12:52 PM
youre totally right. actually Rhymesayers is easily my favorite label doing it right now. but they've had advertisements up for this blueprint album up for a while (i want to say January, but i cant say for sure), which included album art and tracklist, so I'd say it's a pretty safe assumption the album was complete by then. they couldve pushed his rlease up a couple of weeks and push back atmosphere a couple.

just to let the music breathe a little, and to be a little easier on my wallet.
2535613, They actually pushed the album back a month
Posted by simpsycho, Thu Apr-07-11 08:22 PM
When they first announced it at the beginning of the year, it was going to drop in March. Something must have happened to put it so close to Atmosphere's album.

They've got a lot coming out this year too, Grieves, Evidence, Face Candy, Los Nativos. P.O.S. might be dropping a new album and I've heard rumors of a posthumous album from Eyedea. I imagine they've got a fairly tight release schedule.
2535643, RE: They actually pushed the album back a month
Posted by Goose, Thu Apr-07-11 11:15 PM
okay then that probably explains it. yeah it seems like every other year RSE has a huge year where they drop a ton of fire.dont forget freeway's dropping another album too. im really excited for grieves and evidence new records
2535645, I hadn't heard about Freeway putting anything else out on RSE
Posted by simpsycho, Thu Apr-07-11 11:44 PM
Nice.
2535661, RE: I hadn't heard about Freeway putting anything else out on RSE
Posted by Goose, Fri Apr-08-11 02:03 AM
actually i wouldnt quote me on that. but freeway is coming out with an album caleld "diamond in the ruff" no idea what label it'll be on, im seeing rumors of his Free money imprint from Cash money, RSE, G Unit Philly (???), and even a roc-a-fella reunion. but beautiful music and escalator are two tracks leaked so far, and theyre great.
2534933, I think it's cool enough, but I need to give it a few more listens
Posted by mrhood75, Wed Apr-06-11 10:28 AM
I think the best stuff is the straight rapping stuff, like "Radio-Inactive," "Keep Bouncing," and "Go Hard Or Go Home." Of course, two of those tracks I'd heard months ago. Of the tracks with him singing, the ones that have grabbed me or "Stole Our Yesterday" and "The Other Side." Some of the other stuff just didn't really sound that special on first listen.

So I'm going give it a few more listens today to get a better feel for it. Then I can get a better sense of it.
2535341, RE: I think it's cool enough, but I need to give it a ew more listens
Posted by lamar odom, Thu Apr-07-11 08:50 AM
Hold up, he singing now?
2535371, On some of the tracks, yes.
Posted by mrhood75, Thu Apr-07-11 10:03 AM
Sometimes it's him just singing the choruses, sometimes it's him singing the entire time, and sometimes, like on "The Other Side," he sings a verse or two, than raps a verse.
2535314, Sorry but as a Blueprint fan that goes way back...
Posted by Patrik, Thu Apr-07-11 03:37 AM
His recent output has been so boring and repetitive that it amazes me. Ever since he stopped using loops or whatever he decided to do with his sampling methods, it has all gone downhill. All he seems to do now days is try to play 4 different variations of the same electronic stuff on a keyboard over and over again.

Both new Greenhouse Effect EP's sound exactly the same more or less when it comes to production and so does Adventures in Counter Culture. When it comes to rapping he doesn't even seem too interested in switching it up as of lately as he did earlier in his career, now days it's always the same monotone slow guy.

I hate to say it but Blueprint went from automatic check for me to maybe I won't waste my time.
