"smart rock"... eh, i don't really get it either, but it's better than the one that made me kinda dislike arcade fire at first. someone described them to me as being like godspeed you! black emperor, who i loved, so when i played 'funeral' i was disappointed and answered back, "it's just a rock album."

yeah, those comparisons and the one to coldplay are definitely missing the boat at this point

my biggest one was the live versions of "i might be wrong" in the year leading up to 'amnesiac.' on hearing the studio version of the song, i hated it and still do. they ruined what was one of their best songs IMO. it also took me a few listens to get into "motion picture soundtrack" on "'a dik' backwards" because i was married to the acoustic version from 4 years earlier. i thought they nailed "how to disappear completely," which made me happy because it was my 1st or 2nd favorite unreleased song w/ "true love waits."
