when he started a beautiful love ballad with the phrase said, "shut up. i don't want to hear you say that again," i laughed. was he laughing, too?
when he followed that up with a pointed, "look at me," i couldn't tell whether that was a sign of affection or a threat or maybe both.
i love that song because it captures a real emotion. but it was also really funny and i crack up whenever i hear it. did r. kelly want the audience to think it was funny?

and what about calling himself "the pied piper of r&b? is that a startling lack of self awareness? or a confession? or performance art?
