So would the music be better if new jacks learned this stuff or would we ossify like some believe jazz has?

I'm of the opinion it would be useful if nothing else but to appreciate the history. I'm thinking of that idiotic swagger jacking debate about pause rap..b/t Sean/Drake and Luda.

that said I don't think it's essential. We have DJ's who carry that history to the stage more so it seems than rappers and certainly the culture is built around the new.
