Stevie Wonder to Play All of ‘Songs in the Key of Life’ on 50th-Anniversary Tour

The musician will celebrate his landmark 1976 album on a fall trek that will hit the U.S. in November and December

By Jon Blistein

September 8, 2026

Stevie Wonder will celebrate the 50th anniversary of his classic album Songs in the Key of Life with a world tour this fall.

Wonder will perform the album in its entirety at each show — an ambitious endeavor for a double LP with 17 tracks and a nearly 90-minute run time. (It’s unclear if Wonder will also play the four additional songs from the A Something’s Extra EP released with the original album.)

The tour will start with a U.K. and European run that kicks off Oct. 13 in Birmingham, England, and wraps Nov. 11 in Glasgow. A short U.S. tour will follow, starting Nov. 19 at Madison Square Garden in New York City and ending Dec. 19 at the Intuit Dome in Los Angeles. In between, Wonder will play shows in Chicago, Washington, D.C., and Detroit.

Tickets for most of the U.S. gigs on the Songs in the Key of Life tour will go on sale Sept. 10 at 10 a.m.; only tickets for the Detroit shows will go on sale Sept. 15 at 10 a.m. local time. Full information is available on Wonder’s website:

Released Sept. 28, 1976, Songs in the Key of Life capped off an already remarkable run of albums that included other classics like 1972’s Talking Book and 1973’s Innervisions. Though one of the biggest stars on the planet at the time, before Wonder made Songs in the Key of Life, he was close to quitting the music industry and dedicating himself to humanitarian efforts in Africa. He changed his plans after inking a new contract with Motown that was both financially lucrative and gave him complete creative control.

In a Classic Albums documentary about Songs in the Key of Life, Wonder said, “I challenged myself (to write) as many different things as I could, to cover as many topics as I could, in dealing with the title and representing what it was about. The title would give me a challenge, but equally as important as a challenge it would give me an opportunity to express my feelings as a songwriter and as an artist.”

Songs in the Key of Life was a commercial and critical smash upon release, reaching Number One on the Billboard 200 Albums chart, earning Diamond certification from the RIAA, and winning Album of the Year at the Grammys. It spawned two Number One hits, “I Wish” and “Sir Duke,” and contained plenty more enduring Wonder songs, like “Isn’t She Lovely,” “Pastime Paradise,” “Black Man,” and “Knocks Me Off My Feet.” Over the years, Songs in the Key of Life has remained one of the most revered albums in Wonder’s catalog and pop history, landing at Number Four on Rolling Stone’s list of the 500 Greatest Albums of All Time.

13528384, For the Detroit shows it's wild that they'll be at the Fox Theatre.

I was at the last SOTKOL tour which sold out the Palace and also the 2024 show that sold out Little Ceasar's arena.

Stevie in a small venue like the Fox will be amazing. I know those tickets are gonna go QUICK and be really expensive from resellers. But this is absolutely a can't miss for me.
13528388, I wish he was playing Greek in LA
Posted by handle, Wed Sep-09-26 05:38 PM
I saw him there once and once at Microsoft Theater (now Peacok theatre) and 6,000 seats seems to be the sweet spot. He's playing 19,000+ this time.

I still might go - he was great.
13528414, I was at that Microsoft show.

It was awesome. Though he'd done Staples before that a time or two, and I'd enjoyed those shows as well.

My problem this time is how insanely expensive the tickets are. Moment I looked, it was like 600+ for nosebleed seats. When I saw him at Microsoft it was like mid 100s. Crazy.
13528447, same

>My problem this time is how insanely expensive the tickets
>are.

caught the sitkol tour in 2014. we were on the floor (philly arena), paid $225 each (and i thought that was expensive..)
13528469, Decent tickets in LA started around $225 face & $400+ resale
Posted by handle, Tue Sep-15-26 10:35 AM
But they way it's all set up now is the scalped pricing (resale) and arbitrage makes it hard to get a good seat at a face value.

But for $240 you could buy all this vinyl on Amazon and have it delivered this week:
Songs In The Key Of Life - Triple vinyl - $33
Talking Book - vinyl -$28
Fulfillingness' First Finale vinyl - $16
Innervisions vinyl - $29
Hotter Than July vinyl - $19
Music of My Mind vinyl $30
Signed, Sealed and Delivered vinyl - $25
Journey Through The Secret Life Of Plants vinyl - $37
Someday At Christmas vinyl - $28

I mean you could probably get it a lot cheaper searching for deals - or buying on CD.

It doesn't make a lot of sense to me to see someone at an 18,000 seat arena and pay more than I could buy most of their music for.

I love Stevie more than almost any other artist - but for me the pricing and the crowds aren't very attractive especially at this price.

Now if he played say The Fonda I'd sure as shit pay $400.
13528489, I'm going to wait until a few hours before.
Posted by Frank Longo, Thu Sep-17-26 02:32 PM
I've found with these tickets that obviously get bought by scalpers, they get desperate right as the show's about to start, and you can sometimes get last minute tickets on StubHub or wherever for far more reasonable prices.
13528511, Maybe
Posted by handle, Sun Sep-20-26 11:12 AM
I've checked Facebook Marketplace and Craigslist -people with kids seem to get sick and you can get them like 1 minute before it starts (or after it started) for a BARGAIN because they just transfer via Ticketmaster.

But man, I wish I could see him somewhere small-ish again.
13528390, Hub just got tickets

Stevie Wonder upset about Trayvon Martin - will not play in states with "stand your ground" laws/open carry laws

Stevie Wonder boycotts Florida following George Zimmerman verdict

July 16, 2013, 8:05 AM EDT

By Randee Dawn

Florida fans of Stevie Wonder who want to see the legend sing are going to have to go on a road trip for the near future. During a performance in Quebec City, Canada, on Sunday, the Grammy-winning performer spoke out about the recent acquittal of George Zimmerman and announced he would boycott the state.

"I decided today that until the 'Stand Your Ground' law is abolished in Florida, I will never perform there again," he told the audience. "As a matter of fact, wherever I find that law exists, I will not perform in that state or in that part of the world."

Though the "stand your ground" law arguably was not a factor in Zimmerman's acquittal, it was a much-discussed potential motivation for Zimmerman's actions on the night of Feb. 26, 2012, when he and Martin had their deadly encounter.

Earlier in his over three-minute announcement, captured by a fan at the concert on YouTube, Wonder asked his fans to join him in the boycott.

"For those that we have lost in the battle for justice, wherever that fits in any part of the world — we can't bring them back," he said. "(What) we can do is we can let our voices be heard. And we can vote in our various countries throughout the world for change and equality for everybody. That's what I know we can do."

Wonder isn't the first celebrity to speak out post-verdict; others have given voice to their concerns about the acquittal on Twitter and elsewhere, but his appears to be the first entertainer to actively take his business out of the state in reaction to the decision.

Last November Wonder withdrew from a Los Angeles gala in which he was set to perform in support of the Israeli Defence Forces after a petition urged him to rethink his performance.
13528439, Not sure who that Boycott hurts.

13528449, doesn’t hurt him at all. I’d travel to see Stevie
Posted by legsdiamond, Mon Sep-14-26 11:32 AM
Glad I got to see him in Charlotte a decade ago but I’ll hop on a plane or drive for a legend
13528453, He's boycotting a STATE - so it hurts everyone in the state
Posted by handle, Mon Sep-14-26 01:34 PM
Frankly I avoid travel almost anywhere outside of California because of this - and I'm not to crazy about California either.

Could be coming for us soon.
13528451, he did the same for the 40th
