13524497, i stopped after season 1
Posted by Mynoriti, Fri Jan-02-26 05:00 PM
I binged it while being home sick one day. I liked it, but I didn't care enough to continue when then next season dropped
13524499, I've been too busy to concentrate.

Being a teenage taxi service, I can never get too comfortable to just lock in on a series.
13524507, it was fine. it was cheesy and long and should've been done five years ago
Posted by Rjcc, Sat Jan-03-26 03:54 PM
but it wasn't.

so

www.engadgethd.com - the other stuff i'm looking at
13524509, I thought it was good.

I thought 99% of the complaints about it were contrarian nonsense. Idk what people were expecting from a show that's captured all aspects of the 80s (including the corniness) since its inception. I thought it was why we all liked the show, but maybe that was just me.
I saw complaints about them focusing too much on Holly. I didn't mind that at all. I liked her as a character. Some complained that it dragged. I guess I understand if you're expecting nonstop action, but the show has never been all action. There's always been drama that led to big events. There was a lot of dialogue, but I didn't mind it. They were wrapping up things and letting us know where everyone's mind was. Some complained about Will's coming out scene (these were mostly conservative bigots and white males desperately wanting to be victims). I thought it was necessary and made sense to the greater story (taking away Vecna's weapon of fear).
I thought Mike's final theory was cool, but #8 looked deader than dead after that gunshot wound.
I had somewhat mixed feelings on the inclusion of the Prince tracks. Overall, it's fucked up, because I know Prince would be against that, and his estate doesn't respect his wishes worth a damn. At the same time, Prince's strictness stopped a whole generation from understanding his greatness. I knew a kid who became obsessed with Kate Bush after the inclusion of Running Up That Hill. Very possible that a new generation will discover and understand the greatness of Prince. There was already a spike in streams of the songs.
13524518, Just started back today.

Lucas’ wig is a problem for me.
13524523, A real tragedy
Posted by Boogie Stimuli, Sun Jan-04-26 12:07 PM
>Lucas’ wig is a problem for me.

I reconciled it in my mind by realizing his family is the only black family I've seen in the town, so there's nobody to tell him how crazy his hair looks. I imagined his younger sister is into white guys since those are her only options, so even with her rude bluntness, her mind is also colonized. Only way I could watch the season in peace lol.

Nah. This is some basic ba behind the scenes not having diverse workers not knowing how to light, makeup, or hair us.
13524527, I think that's obvious.

How sad that both could be factual at the same damn time.
13524531, it was solid....

soooo many cheesy parts but they worked for the most part. The giant spider fight reminded me too much of the original IT. But overall liked it.
13524535, last time i watched was the final ep of Season 3.

13524538, binged all 5 seasons in last two weeks
Posted by rdhull, Mon Jan-05-26 12:54 PM
I saw og season 1 back when it started..about 4 eps and quit for some reason

All the hype over the years I still never got back to it. Even after hearing how certain music artists got bumps in streaming play etc because of the show

So herin the hype of the end and it being in theaters, wanted to be part of it all, so binged all seasons over about two weeks.Cheating? yeah, but oh well. Better late than never

Though I wasn't there for the years to live it as others did, I still felt for the characters and situations. Got all of the feels in last episode (saw it in the theater). The purple needle drops were fucking chefs kiss. Yall know (or dont know) I'm a P fanatic so those perfectly placed songs..and not knowing they were coming. Yoooo!
13524540, Season one was dope, kept going downhill from there

Kids were like early teens when season one filmed, and early 20s when season five aired so I can see how that aging changed how the story could be told.

I both like and dislike how they went full corny and unrealistic for season 5. Seemed kinda like the show LOST, where they didn't seem to have planned things more than a season at a time, which made the story not flow and had a lot of continuity problems.

Still enjoyed the series. One of the shows that got me back into reading paperbacks.

Side note:
I watched IT: Welcome to Derry just before Stranger Things 5 dropped, and I liked Derry quite a bit. Seemed like they looked at what Stranger Things had done and thought "we can do that better." Dope series, highly reccomend (only one season so far tho).
13524543, Interesting

I have that on my watch list.
Watching Orphan Black currently and enjoying it.

RIP Big Richie
13524541, It was good enough. Rewatched the last episode of Doom Patrol last night
Posted by MEAT, Mon Jan-05-26 04:14 PM
And just different caliber of writing a goodbye.
13524546, I don’t like science fiction/supernatural/horror shit
Posted by DJR, Mon Jan-05-26 10:37 PM
So that’s all I need to know to stay away.
13524565, it was solid
Posted by mista k5, Tue Jan-06-26 11:59 AM
I do think the first few episodes dragged and didn't like how they kept pointing out that nothing made sense. I do think the final 3 episodes were a good way to close it out.
13524568, Derrick was a trip lol
Posted by rdhull, Tue Jan-06-26 01:02 PM
He gave Vecna hell lol
13524637, The #ConformityGate fan fiction would've been a better ending arc...
Posted by flipnile, Thu Jan-08-26 11:12 AM
...than the one we actually got.

They still have time to cobble together a secret episode 9.

They won't tho, because the Stranger Things writing team and Netflix just don't seem like they have that level of dopeness within them.

Some other series should steal that idea.
13524642, Saw the last episode in theaters

because the wife is a huge fan

great experience. Haven't been to an actual theater in years

Standing in line for concessions was fun as hell until the $40 bill hit

Upside, they serve alcohol. And for the most part pretty cheap. Dudes were getting goblets of long island ice tea type disgusting mixtures for like $20.

Downside, I fucked up and called the trans bartender sir (I say sir too much, I gotta stop)

While the fight with the mind flayer was great, it was done too early

The rest of the saying goodbye horseshit was drawn out way too long and corny

Great series that I enjoyed all the way through but seasons 4 and 5 lost steam for me
