We were looking at a coding camp for my daughter and now I want to buy into the business.

Low entry to get in and it seems like the biggest hurdle is insurance since it involves kids.

I’ve been thinking about what job I can do once I “retire” or what biz I can have without a shit ton of heavy lifting.

ionno.. just researching at the moment.
13524297, I've been thinking about this a lot.

There are the perennial faves, laundromats / car washes... I've also thought about b2b lending or buying small interests in local businesses - restaurants / bars, etc.

but the real plan is taxes, and financial consulting. Between my retirement savings and that income I should be good for a 10 some odd years after retirement. I should be able to ride out the next 10 some odd years on pure retirement and augmented savings from the quasi-retirement era, and there's always the idea of a move to the global south to take advantage of fiat arbitrage.

What about this coding camp has you interested?
13524316, Low cost to start up and these summer camps a grip

I don’t want a business with a lot of moving parts.

I’m in the print industry right now and always imagined owning a shop but the waste, material and other shit has me second guessing. Its still on the table tho because I know this business.

With coding, my daughter loves it and I think the future is going to continue to be online. Plus I think WE (Black folk) have some catching up to do and this feels like a great way to fill that gap.

13524318, I like where your heads at.

That being said already knowing a business / industry is a HUGE advantage. Why can't we have more Black Printers?

Iono, just a thought, from a nigga who be doing y'all's books, and audits, and valuations.
13524325, The reason I’m hesitant on printing
Posted by legsdiamond, Mon Dec-22-25 04:46 PM
is because I’m still a worker.

My boss works 20 hours a week in the office.. if that.

and keeps saying he wants to work less.

so maybe if I think like an owner I won’t get lost in the nightmare of picking up boards and print rolls.

13524331, IME the higher you got, the less actual work you do.

Your responsibility level raises and some ppl let that translate into work, but honestly, I could do my job in about 4hrs, maybe 3 if I hustled.

The rest of this shit is office politics and email.
13524299, it's like everybody wants ot make me wish I took the day off

Office is cool cuz its that time of year where our clients send us gifts, so we got mad snacks and shit for free, and we are encouraged to take shit home so it doesn't go bad...aka stocking stuffers LOL.

but, seriously, looking forward to getting the fuck outta here.

on the flip side, i'm going straight to the mall to finish christmas shopping. just need like 3 more things, which almost makes it worse. pary for your boy cuz clearly i need jesus if i'm going to the mall on December 23rd.

Posted by mista k5, Tue Dec-23-25 02:30 PM
Cool except a customer just set a ton of work in. Gonna try to knock out what I can today but then if they give approval it's going to sit until I'm back as I'm a one person department.

What I'm mostly freaked out about is that I haven't done any wrapping. Going to try to knock that out today but I hope I don't need to hit up a store for paper/bags.

But I’ve been dreaming of work.

One dream was me arriving to work with no pants on and having a weird adventure trying to get home to get some pants.

Last night, dreamed of having students but one student I somewhat adopted or had a consistent one on one lesson with to the point I was caring for him.

In real life I’m transitioning from an elementary SPEd Resource teacher where I had two 2nd grade boys who were like grandsons, to being pulled to 4/5th grade math with 28 fourth graders, 15 fifth, quitting and now readying for my first day as a Diverse Learning teacher with high schoolers. Not certain how many, if they switch classes or are cluster (stay) or a mix of both.

I think its on my mind strong and its pushing me too cause now I want to American Sign language (asl).

Get yourself a break, that work will still be there.
