The politicians present them as these super dangerous places(even though they often live in and travel to these same cities), while small town people who haven’t left their home county since ‘96 buy into it and are terrified of big cities.

Meanwhile in reality you can randomly get shot up while eating dinner on the ocean, at a concert, at the movies, getting groceries, at church, at school, etc…..supposedly “safe” activities in broad daylight in supposedly “safe” areas. And these people that are terrified of cities really couldn’t care less about any of that. They’ll keep doing all those activities without a second thought. But visit the downtown area of the nearest big city……not a chance.

They live in an alternate reality.

Another time coworkers were talking about Charlotte like it was Escape from NY. The office was 20 minutes outside the city. Its wild when you realize these people are scared of us (I do mean Black folk). Like if I didn’t work with them.. they would be terrified seeing me walk down the street.

Not to make light or normalcy about these shootings but I think its very interesting how we’ve lived through various phases of mass shootings, yet without a change in gun manufacturing and arms rights, there are periods of back to back chaos and those of very little chaos. For instance the postal shootings from the 80’s to the 90’s and four in 2006. Most recent was in 2022.

There’s little to no in-depth investigation on why they were so ramped then nor that nor a look into the years in which “peace” were had.

At the root of most of the 80-90’s postal killings it appears to be toxic work relations/power dynamics hence the reason supervisors were mainly targeted.

Most recent mass shootings (cept in cases of racial motivation) seem the same but not quite because there’s no identifiable intended target of power, but more aimed at establishment. For instance, Church, NFL office, bar, school.

but the reason they don’t do studies is because its white males.
