13499600, Go see DUNE: PART TWO next weekend
Posted by bwood, Wed Feb-21-24 12:06 PM
This shit is fucking fire!!!

I don't know how (and I didn't think it was possible), but this one has a bigger scope and scale than the first one. And this shit is wild action-packed.

Since the POV is through two women, I'm surprised that the movie's second half is presented as tragic as I feel most people would've depicted it as a triumph.

Religion and politics are a bitch.

Can't wait to see this shit again on the 8-story IMAX off the wild edible.

Trailer (this one doesn't give away much): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Way9Dexny3w
13499615, Yeah, this joint looks epic

I keep watching the first one because it was amazing but I can’t even fathom how this sounds in a movie theatre.

It kicks off a bunch of wild shit that happens as a result. I really hope we at least get a movie to cover the second book.
13499617, Apparently, that's the plan.

Denis said he wants to make MESSIAH.

Should he do CHILDREN as well?
13499618, Yeah beyond that I couldn't tell you
Posted by Nopayne, Wed Feb-21-24 02:55 PM
I read Children but I barely remember it. Half the time, I had no idea wtf was going on. I had to tap out after that. These books really need a study guide imo. That's why I'm glad that the movies are being made.
13499624, I have few life regrets, but seeing the first one at home is one of them.

Won't happen again.

so we couldnt see it in the theatre.

I heard its in theatres now is some markets.
13499630, I saw it in theatre, but don't think IMAX was open yet though.

13499649, You are correct. I think they had a deal with Max to release streams
Posted by legsdiamond, Thu Feb-22-24 10:52 AM
the same day as the movie theatre release.

I forgot about that.
13499663, The first got an IMAX release when it dropped.
Posted by bwood, Thu Feb-22-24 12:15 PM
It went to both HBO Max and theaters, including IMAX, in October 2021.

I should know cause I saw it four times on the 8-story IMAX.
13499717, Nice, the IMAX theatres around me must not have re-opened yet
Posted by Oak27, Fri Feb-23-24 10:45 AM
Definitely seeing this one in IMAX
13499632, I dunno. FF7 Rebirth drops the same day.

I’m not a gamer. I play very occasionally and when I do it’s NBA 2K or GTAV, occasionally dipping into replays of *my* golden era FF games, 7, 8, and 9.

When 7 Remake hit I was all in- and I’m exponentially more excited about this.

But all the early word on Dune is that it’s fantastic. I’ll probably just catch the thursday show if they have one.
13499633, Fuck that shit.

Go inhale the spice melange on the biggest screen possible with the OD loud sound.
13499714, IMAX screenings on Sunday February 25th at 7:00pm

Yeah the site crashed for six hours. By that time I could only get March 17th.
13500096, Even better on a rewatch
Posted by bwood, Tue Feb-27-24 08:17 PM
This movie gets better on a rewatch. Probably the best cautionary white savior story ever told. The fact the movie knows that and frames it in a bad way is amazing. This is seriously the best production designed movie.

Today's screening was presented in Dolby Vision with Dolby Atmos sound. Holy shit. See this large and loud in the best way possible.

Dying to see the film print on the 8-story IMAX. The 6 minute preview before TENET looked absolutely amazing in that format.

Great Q&A with Denis afterwards too.
13500919, aestically amazing.

Not buying the subversive (white) savior trope that people keep trying to say the movie is pushing.

Very enjoyable, and if I were the type I'd buy it for rewatches.
13500930, watch it on the biggest screen you can find

Solid film. Decent changes. Top notch special effects.
