Probably the reason he got trucked by Killer Mike in the first place, trying to make it about himself and exert authority over him by blocking his path.

That sociopathic main character energy.

shit that had KM looking like he was in on the scam.

I think its just a rapper trying to do too much without actually doing their due diligence

I'm extremely happy for Mike. 20+ years since his first win.. with Andre (and Big Boi). Now, he won it with Dre again. I also love how Outkast got him through the door with a Grammy, and now he's sorta paying it forward thro Eryn Allen Kane. Very well deserved.

I wouldn't be too worried about the "arrest".. He knows his rights. He will be okay. I just hate that they had to ruin his night and try to dull his shine. Hopefully, a lot more people hear the album and give his discography a chance because of all this.

13498664, kind of, yeah
Posted by Mynoriti, Tue Feb-06-24 01:47 AM
when better treatment means while you're accepting a grammy award, to point out how your wife has received the most grammy awards ever and needs to stop being done dirty by the grammys

I'm not even saying he's wrong, or that she hasn't been snubbed for aoty, but given the timing, and that they have something like 50 grammys combined, to act aggrieved right then came off kinda entitled and whiny
13498708, seems to me that he was using her as an example of an issue that

affects her and other black artists.

and what better time to bring it up? when will he have a spotlight as big as that to voice his concerns? it's rare to get him to speak publicly.

and now everyone else knows he won too.. lol
13498588, Huh? Folks would have found out he won a Grammy without the arrest.
Posted by Buddy_Gilapagos, Mon Feb-05-24 12:19 PM
I do think he was probably feeling himself and was willing to get into a confrontation with security after winning a grammy.

I’m saying dude got cuffed for a misdemeanor immediately after getting 3 grammys.

Just seems like a great way to get your wins talked about by publications who would not ever cover KM’s wins.

13498619, how does that work?

how does he purposely coordinate the timing of his arrest?
13498624, you wait until AFTER you win your awards and then act a fool
Posted by legsdiamond, Mon Feb-05-24 03:35 PM
no guarantee you get cuffed but you can still cause enough of a scene for it to be a story.

then hashtag grammys after bragging about your wins and how they can try to take your freedom but grammys are forever

yall really aint good with this “any news is good news” PR bidness.

just seems weird to get arrested on these weak ass charges right after winning.

Posted by mrhood75, Mon Feb-05-24 07:00 PM
And said a bunch of problematic shit while on it. Which he promptly walked back afterwards.

I think the overall issue is that Killer Mike has made no secret about wanting a seat at the table of power (especially in Georgia), sees being a capitalistic force will help get him there, and thus has made some mistakes in pursuit of that end. Like not supporting Stacey Abrahams. And bigging up Kemp.

Full disclosure: I thought "Michael" was the best album of 2023 and "deserved" to win the Grammys.

I have no idea what direction you're trying to go with this but it seems like you're bothered by my choice of words. Me saying "Dre is scared to rap" shouldn't trigger you.
13498641, Killer Mike has made 6 solo albums. Dre has made ZERO.
Posted by legsdiamond, Mon Feb-05-24 07:28 PM
Some rappers aren’t built to be a solo act.
13498647, Real talk. Dre joking that he has to rap about a colonoscopy at 48.
Posted by Boogie Stimuli, Mon Feb-05-24 08:35 PM
Meanwhile Killer Mike is the same age and rapping about meaningful life situations without mentioning his colon. You chose the right word. Scared. I already went into how his language revealed a fear of failure.
13498671, yeah, I get the same vibe from Dre based on his answer
Posted by legsdiamond, Tue Feb-06-24 08:47 AM
old heads out here rapping their asses off.

so much going on in the world yet he isn’t inspired? okay.. maybe he is done bht Ongrt the feeling he is scared of dropping a dud.
13498681, GTFOHWTBS. If the man ain't inspired to rap, then he ain't got to rap
Posted by Buddy_Gilapagos, Tue Feb-06-24 11:43 AM
that has nothing to do with being scared. It's great that he doesn't feel compelled to rap because he needs money or the fame.

To call one of the greatest to ever do it scared because he doesn't feel inspired is just so disrespectful. SMH.

Nothing disrespectful about wondering if a nigga scared to hold down a whole album on his own.

maybe its the fame and success that has him uninspired.

13498717, I think he's even explicitly said as much, in so many words.
Posted by Brew, Tue Feb-06-24 03:53 PM
May not have used the word "scared" but he definitely implied that he was on some level anxious about getting back on the mic for a full album. I'd have to look up exact quotes but I don't think I'm making that up.
13499147, It's based on what he said out of his own mouth, son.
Posted by Boogie Stimuli, Tue Feb-13-24 07:40 PM
I'm not speculating or pulling this out of thin air. He outlined in the interview about the album that he was essentially afraid of releasing music that wasn't welcomed with huge fanfare. He doesn't wanna be just another talented person releasing music on the internet, not "catching the zeitgeist of what's going on" in his words.

So nigga YOU get the fuck outta here with this bullshit where you get dismissive because you either too dumb or lazy to understand why a point is being made. You and Hitokiri both. It's like yall niggas can't find a legit disagreement, so yall's hatred just explodes at random times lmao. Weird ass niggas.

"Disrespectful" to say the man is scared. He's a human being, and HE said it in so many words his damn self. It's actually pretty normal for people to be afraid of being treated normally after they've been to the mountaintop. Kanye is a great example. Bruno Mars spoke on his fear of falling off in a Breakfast Club interview. But somehow I'm "disrespectul" for pointing out how Andre's language spoke to the same fear. Lol. Yall niggas ain't all there. Just like you called him one of the gretest to do it (rapping) he's aware so many people feel that way about him. That's why he's so comfortable with this new direction, because he gets to hear himself "be a baby at something" and there's no expectation of greatest where you're a beginner. So simple, but so complicated for niggas who can't connect dots I guess.

13499169, damn.. lol
Posted by legsdiamond, Wed Feb-14-24 09:17 AM
I mean, dude made a flute album..

an extremely amateur album at that where folks lied to themselves about tons of folks sampling it and making hot ass beats.

I think folks don’t want to admit 3Stacks has some issues with carrying a while rap album by himself.
13499197, Exactly. People who didn't really read his comments thought he was
Posted by The Bobblehead Man, Wed Feb-14-24 01:08 PM
"uninspired by the hip-hop/rap game of today". I think that's a fan sentiment that they're projecting on him, instead Andre said some weird shit. I couldn't tell if Andre was expressing insecurity, sarcastically dissing rap, or both. I would have respected it if he was simply disinterested in rapping, he's human. But where is the proof that we WON'T accept Andre rapping about whatever he wants?

It's cool there are quite a few other mc's that I've been a long time fan of that are peers are releasing music.

When dude did his doc, Trigger warning, I was all for it until after stating how black folks need to better support black businesses he reveals the entire production crew is non-black and his manager was some Jewish dude.

It was such a slimy ass move especially when 80% of viewers were black, it was like a pro-blakity black black dude who’s always talking about how Black men & women need to come together yet he color struck and/or dating/married to a non-black woman. Killer Mike IS that nigga.

I do feel you on the proBlack dudes with white wives. Hand a friend get mad when he tried that shit.

but industry shit? I do not expected artist to only have Black representation or it’s hypocritical. The game is rigged.
13498788, Having a Jewish manager or non-Blacks working

On your team is not the issue so much as the loud moufin and stating what black folks should do THEN snickering on some ‘I meant yall negroes, not me’.
13498798, for me, I have no problem with folks saying what we should do
Posted by legsdiamond, Thu Feb-08-24 06:54 AM
I think we should buy Black more often if possible but it will never be ONLY but Black because that isn’t realistic.

I watched the episode on this when it first came out and it didn’t bother me at all. I thought it was entertaining and highlights how hard it is to buy Black for everything. Hell, I thought it showed that its damn near impossible to do unless you have a ton of free time to travel all over the city for specific products

but he did a good job showcasing some Black businesses IMO.
