Yes, anything can happen to any of us at any time. White America has shown that there’s little stopping them from doing anything when one of them feels even the smallest amount of fear.

And so the natural tendency is to learn not to do what got one of our people killed.
Don’t walk in the street, don’t run from cops, don’t wear this, don’t say that, don’t lay in your own bed at night, don’t stand near your door in your own apartment … etc

If all a Black person learns from ways Black people are punished is how to avoid those consequences, then that Black person is missing the point. The point being there’s little to nothing one can do to be safe from white terror. No level of income will protect us, no proper way of talking or being, no proximity to any system … literally nothing.

So … within that, why does what they think or what they care about actually matter. Thoughts don’t pull triggers, ideas don’t dial police, strongly held beliefs don’t file CPS claims … who cares what’s in their hearts or minds.

For any non-white person to say otherwise is evidence of internalized white supremacy, because it means you think white males have attained and maintained their position on merit. Nothing could be further from the truth. Nothing could possibly be more important to them, collectively, than maintaining their position through subjugation of all other groups they classify as non-white.
