13490872, Got in my lady's car, and it smelled like cologne on the inside...
Posted by flipnile, Wed Sep-06-23 11:37 AM
I started to get heated, but I looked and saw the passenger seat wasn't leaned-back so that's good, but why does it smell suspicious in here? She *did* just get the car cleaned, so I looked around and saw the new air freshener hanging from the rear-view.

She asked me later if I liked how the car smelled, talking about "I thought you'd like the air freshener, it has a musky smell!"

Just told her it was a little strong, and left it at that, lol.
13490938, The decline of Facebook is killing me.

Instead of going to one centralized place for pictures of kids and wishing happy birthday to people I got everyone wanting to start a whatsapp group which I am expected to be up to date on. SMH.

13490943, I had no idea that Kit was a nickname for my name
Posted by mista k5, Thu Sep-07-23 01:28 PM
I always figured Kit was just it's own name lol
13490986, Holy shit. Neither did I.
Posted by Buddy_Gilapagos, Fri Sep-08-23 12:05 PM
I could have been Kit all of this time?!!?

I definitely don't feel like a Kit but it's a cool nickname lol

13491003, I’m back in school full time
Posted by csuave03, Fri Sep-08-23 04:51 PM
Undergrad. Never graduated. I’m 38.

I was in the military for a few years after high school and I first attended college full time after I got out of the military. Had a few lackadaisical years in between but now I’m back at it.

I feel old and I’m ready for it to be over. I don’t feel like doing the work. I’m a double major with about a year left after this semester. Some kind of science is one of my majors; I have labs, do not wanna do nothing. A lot of papers due, not looking forward to writing.

Trying to get motivated and leave my mark on the world. Seems dreary.

On a semi related note, I miss smoking cigars.

13491101, its never too late for a second act

push through.

my mom went back to school in her late 40’s after I graduated HS.

13491100, It's sexist to apologize for cursing right?
Posted by Buddy_Gilapagos, Tue Sep-12-23 10:35 AM
I've got a co-worker who constantly apologizes for cursing...only when he is in the presence of women. The women have noticed. That's low-key sexist right?

The funny thing is I think I curse less, especially at work, in the presence of women but the apologizing part calls it out and is extra. What do you think?

13491104, I think he is being cautious, not sexist
Posted by legsdiamond, Tue Sep-12-23 10:54 AM
13491277, yeah, that's a touch sexist, but also treating them like kids.
Posted by tariqhu, Thu Sep-14-23 09:03 AM
they're adults like he is. he's attempting to be 'respectful' in his head, but kinda making them less than.

my level of cuss words is sometime dependent on my environment. like much less at work, but nothing to do with the women.
13491105, getting ready to send my severance offer
Posted by legsdiamond, Tue Sep-12-23 11:02 AM
they offered 2 months. I want 3 so I’m going to ask for 4.

universe has been working in my favor lately and now its grind time.

13491198, I never wanted for kids, but I enjoy being a dad.

There's a long rant in the subtext, but for the most part I'm good.
13491273, some woman
Posted by luminous, Thu Sep-14-23 07:55 AM
who is supposedly my mom's friend, but I have never met before thinks it's horrible that my mom is at times home alone. she thinks i should put her in a nursing home and she wants to help me find a nursing home for her.

i think she is only saying this because she wants me to sell my mom's house and to give her the listing (she is a realtor).
13491337, Is 50/50 an option? A lot people experience exploitation at work
Posted by MEAT, Thu Sep-14-23 12:55 PM
And think they can help others avoid that. It's also just as likely that this woman has seen the bad cases
- listing homes people have died in
- folks being alone and not prepared to transition
- family members being left to deal with an asset as they deal with grief

etc

And with this being her kinda friend, who knows.
But there are definitely predators out there. So it's always important to look out for your kin first. So good on you.
13491362, after watching that netflix movie I Care A Lot
Posted by luminous, Thu Sep-14-23 03:06 PM
I have been on high alert... LOL!
13491340, if she is a realtor it def comes across sketchy
Posted by legsdiamond, Thu Sep-14-23 01:25 PM
unless she is also open to having someone come to the home to help your mom

13491351, my friend said I should
Posted by luminous, Thu Sep-14-23 02:16 PM
tell her that even if my mom goes into a nursing home and we sell the house she is not going to get the listing and see if she still wants to help... LOL!
13491423, yep, tel her you plan on keeping the house
Posted by legsdiamond, Fri Sep-15-23 09:26 AM
and see how she responds.

13491342, if your mom is fairly healthy i don't see why she would think that
Posted by makaveli, Thu Sep-14-23 01:37 PM
13491350, my mom is not healthy
Posted by luminous, Thu Sep-14-23 02:14 PM
she is 86 and has all kinds of health problems (parkinsons, congestive heart failure, diabetes, lost vision in her left eye from a vein occlusion) and parkinsons induced psychosis.

but i'm working 3 days a week. i got family medical leave (FMLA). i also have a home aid to come in twice a week. she is home alone only 1 day a week and I call her many times a day to make sure she is okay, I have a video camera I can monitor her with and a medical alert necklace.

this woman has only visited her once in the 2.5 year that I have moved in to take care of her and dropped off some realtor brochures.

i have had many other friends, family, social workers, visiting nurses come and see my mom. none have said she should be in a nursing home. most have said she is lucky to have me taking care of her.
13491424, well in that case I kinda agree
Posted by legsdiamond, Fri Sep-15-23 09:29 AM
at 86, that one day is a bit of a problem based on all the health problems.

but I still don't trust that lady
13491360, my SIL was trying to take advantage of her parents
Posted by tomjohn29, Thu Sep-14-23 03:02 PM
