The underlying issue with that is whoever replaces her would have a clear advantage over other candidates during the primaries.
Additionally, Republicans have said they would be willing to seat Feinstein's replacement if she resigns, but frankly I don't believe that. I think we would be in the same place even with a replacement in regards to the judiciary committee.
