Apparently BL got a trans woman influencer named Dylan to do an ad and kid rock and his crew arent too happy about it:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7BYWneUYDOI

it was said that Bud has lost billions already as a result. Tucker and candace weighed in.

Nope. Similar to college, they'll act like they don't like guns anymore. And then, they'll stock up on guns (on tha low) similar to how they've been doing it for like forever. And now you look around and realize that you're surrounded by people who own multiple guns and/or people who stay strapped all the time. Grocery sto. Corner sto. Haircut. Front yard while mowing. Backyard chillin and drinking. All of that.

13482617, upsetting the type of people who buy bud light
Posted by Mynoriti, Fri Apr-14-23 05:11 AM
in an attempt to expand your customer base seems like a weird business move, especially when your product is still bud light.

Nike got blowback for promoting Kaep, but they're well aware of who their base is. This is kinda like if some marketing exec at Nike said "hey we should make a Ted Cruz shoe"

13482619, do any of these conservative boycotts ever work tho?
Posted by Reeq, Fri Apr-14-23 06:55 AM
feels like every time they get mad at companies for 'going woke' and start burning shit...its really just a loud minority making a big deal about it online...and the company ends up doing just fine or even doing better because of the fresh attention it gets and/or the backlash to the backlash galvanizes people to patronize the boycotted company.

and in the end...it all really turns out to be a grift to push some upstart conservative alternative company/product that ends up flopping because the long term customer base never materializes.
13482623, If they keep this in the news cycle til June, it'll be really funny
Posted by Walleye, Fri Apr-14-23 07:42 AM
You're right. They never work. Chuds love their treats too much to follow through. But if they keep talking about this as Pride Month approaches, they're gonna create an absurdly large pinkwashing backlash to the backlash and get squashed by corporate muscle. Parades full of wealthy gay liberals drinking terrible (but union made!) beer to stick it to reactionary weirdos.
13482644, generally no, but again, it's Bud Light
Posted by Mynoriti, Fri Apr-14-23 11:51 AM
boycotting Nike was obviously futile, same with Disney
but even something like the NFL where conservatives make up a large portion of the customer base, the product is still the NFL.

there are bunch of other products i'm forgetting where conservatives filmed themselves smashing, or burning for whatever reason, and since i don't remember them right now i'm sure they're fine.

I'm surprised this initially hit them as hard as it has, but i think it's more because most people can do without Bud Light,it's the beer most people only pick because it's all they have, and its everywhere.
13482664, how has it hit them hard?

Whether right or wrong, I’ve always perceived the beer wars to have a slight political undertone. Smaller craft beers for the coastal libs and your bud/coors for the small town conservatives.

You see it in marketing of years past with the emphasis on the flag. So this feels like a shift to appeal to a demographic that isn’t going to gravitate toward their brand anyway

"Bud Light has been losing ground to other beers, such as craft beers and Modelo and Michelob Ultra, as well as to spirits, for quite some time now. It’s looking for new customers wherever it can find them. “The reality is much more simple — it’s that the white male customer who used to drink a lot of Bud Light doesn’t anymore, and Bud Light has no choice but to find people who do,” Infante said. “There’s just no growth for Bud Light in its traditional core audience the way it used to have and used to be able to rely on.”

You asked a nonsense question.

You also tried to shift the goalpost, as though there's any outrage against this idiot, when all the outrage came from him. Most people are laughing at what a south park level buffoon he is, or disturbed by such blatent displays of bigotry, or both.

But all the outrage is coming from him and his like.

>A person referred to him as anti LGBTQ in here so I asked how
>was he anti LGBTQ.

This is a stupid question if you were paying attention *at all*.

Even a little bit.

Just tiny amount of reading answers this question.

You either couldn't be bothered to look into why people would have that reaction, or you're playing dumb.

Because this is literally about the existence of trans people in a beer commercial.

13483801, Data shows Bud Light sales falling
Posted by PimpTrickGangstaClik, Mon May-01-23 11:29 AM
This is just in the immediate aftermath of the controversy. I wonder if it will persist.

https://www.npr.org/2023/04/27/1172299478/bud-light-sales-fall-trans-influencer-boycott

Over the past week, sales data appears to show that the boycotts have affected the company's bottom line, at least in the short term.

Sales of Bud Light fell 17% in the week ending April 15 when compared to the same week in 2022, according to an analysis of Nielsen data by Bump Williams Consulting published in The Wall Street Journal. By contrast, for the week ending April 1 — the day Mulvaney posted the video — Bud Light sales had declined only 1.6% year-over-year, the same data showed. Meanwhile, sales for rivals Coors Light and Miller Lite jumped.

And in restaurants, sales of Bud Light were 6% lower than other light lagers from April 2 to April 15, according to data from BeerBoard, a company that tracks beer sales at about 3,000 restaurants nationwide. Bud Light had outperformed that category in late March, Axios reported.

if your core audience is middle america you risk backlash when you go against their bigotry.

they already gave the marketing rep and her boss the boot “paid leave” and I seen a cheesy bud light country music festival commercial the other day. They know they fucked up.

personally, I would hate to make a product that is loved by middle america to the point I’m held hostage

or the nhl sending out tweets like this one https://twitter.com/NHL/status/1595076956852260865

it's great to want to be inclusive or want to draw people in who aren't straight, mostly white males, but when that's your core fanbase, and literally all your players, maybe scolding them isn't the best way to achieve this.

it seems like they hire these excecs from these elite universities who've never really been outside their bubbles, and don't understand how these aren't great ideas.

Is this the first successful "go woke go broke"?

https://www.marketwatch.com/story/there-is-a-subset-of-american-consumers-who-will-not-drink-a-bud-light-for-the-foreseeable-future-anheuser-busch-inbevs-u-s-profits-may-tumble-jpmorgan-says-cd5a7df4

The controversy over briefly having a transgender influencer promote Bud Light may hit U.S. profits substantially at Anheuser-Busch InBev this year, a new analyst note concludes.

JPMorgan analysts led by Jared Dinges say they now expect earnings before interest and tax in the U.S. to slide 26% this year, on a 12% drop in volume and a 10% decline in sales. They note that the latest NielsenIQ data, covering the week to May 6, showed Bud Light sales down 23.6% on a 27.7% drop in volume.

“We believe there is a subset of American consumers who will not drink a Bud Light for the foreseeable future,” they say.

Bud Light sales have deteriorated following a social-media campaign featuring trans activist and actress Dylan Mulvaney. The Wall Street Journal reported that the brewer plans to buy back unsold Bud Light cases that are past their expiration dates from wholesalers.

The JPMorgan team say they don’t expect sales to be recovered in fiscal 2024. That said they say the stock is pricing in a 45% drop in U.S. EBIT, and in addition, the company should see margins improve as costs per liter decline and that shareholder returns may be boosted as the company deleverages its balance sheet. “While we understand the hesitancy to add to ABI positions before we have more clarity on the U.S., based on the recent data and our scenario analysis in this note, we believe risk-reward is favorable from here,” they say.

homosexuality, but it’s not about me. That’s someone else’s preference.

I wouldn’t stop drinking or eating something because of a transgender promo.

That’s ridiculous.
13485062, believe in?

as in you don't believe it exists?

...racist rednecks, cause at the end of the day money is money. But, it's wild to me to get up in arms over shitty beer trying to spread its wings a little. It's not like they're fucking with the formula.

And at the end of the day, trans-people are just that. People. What anyone else does with their body is none of my fucking business. Nor do I give a shit.

13485244, So my mom's been dating this Trumpy dude for a several years now
Posted by Nodima, Mon May-29-23 04:30 AM
And it's always been kind of charming because she's a retired public school teacher, pro all kinds of liberal everything, and it seems like he makes her pretty happy all told even though I really can't tell what their connection is. She likes football, he likes hockey. She likes prestige TV, he likes Deadliest Catch. Etc. She likes wine...he likes Bud Light. Can barely hang with, like, a PBR in a pinch type likes Bud Light.

Anyway, like I said above I worked a Tesla concert the other night and we all couldn't help but say how low-key proud we were of all these goofy bedazzled jeans wearing old white folks guzzling Bud and Busch Light without a care in the world, so when I saw her the day after I mentioned that to her and she got all sheepish and said "you know...Scott did try to boycott, but he just couldn't find anything as good. The Bud's back in the fridge!"

Might've been the first time I did a guffaw type laugh in my life. But good for him.

I’m assuming she is white.

I always feel like white women will change their politics for a dude.

13485260, Yes, they ignore politics and they’re not allowed at family gatherings

We get together once a month and she’s never been any different on any subject than she was when I was a kid

On Mother’s Day for example she casually brought up the E Jean Carroll verdict and how laughable it is that anyone can take Trump seriously after that, but that she’s also got a lot of first hand experience that “policy” trumps a lot of personal flaws. They’ve been together since, if I remember right, 2015, and when my dad went full all lives matter during 2020 she was first in line to support my sister and I losing touch with him.

I think she’s just comfortable with him. He’s a pretty simple, boring guy with a nice house and strong retirement nest egg. My dad was complicated and never found an opportunity he couldn’t screw up. It’s sort of a Connor/Willa situation, with less money and less baggage, but it’s convenient. Very old school in that way.

13486544, Modelo isn’t AB InBev, it’s Constellation
Posted by Nodima, Thu Jun-15-23 08:20 AM
One of the only antitrust cases in the past handful of decades the government actually won.

It’s also not truly the market leader, yet, but has been creeping for several years and if trends continue might take the crown by the end of this decade.

That said, taking the market share that it did for even a brief period is wild.

Edit: And THAT being said, this past decade must’ve been such a party for Constellation shareholders. They went from having a small (though influential) corner of the wine market to conquering Mexican lagers. The US buys/imports most of the beer in the world and Mexico has totally punked Austria and the Netherlands like a high school jock.

13486744, i don't know if these people are gonna survive pride month
Posted by Mynoriti, Sat Jun-17-23 04:39 PM
i don't even know who long pride month has been around, but it's usually not much more than seeing it mentioned by certain venues, and advertisements and a few friends celebrating it on socials. I never noticed much backlash or have given it much thought.

this year the 'fuck your feelings' crowd is in full snowflake mode, melting down every time they see a flag, trying to boycott everything in sight. twitter's of course worse than ever, but i'm in a baseball park group on FB, which has always been super friendly and apolitical, and the way some of these people act like they got stabbed in the heart every time someone posts images from a pride night game is comical... goatees and karens announcing "i'm leaving this group!"

we're barely halfway through the month. some of these people ain't gonna make it.
13495827, Kid Rock not staying the course
Posted by Mynoriti, Thu Dec-14-23 03:31 AM
Matt Walsh and the other trad-bro weirdos are really upset that Rock abandoned the cause and that guys him and Dana White are drinking bud light again.

I think it's more that being a right wing dick is only one of Kid Rock's interests, but for some of these other guys it's their entire personality
