There appears to be a pattern akin to a new policy on how they approach these domestic abuse cases where they don't care much about whether they have a case or not. Kevin Porter Jr's case and Major's case both have abuse "victims" that never wanted to pursue charges. In Porter Jr's case, the "victim" is actively saying that nothing happened as it has been reported. This is deeper than Jonathan Majors. Sad to see it go down this way.
