13471183, I don't think my loans qualify
Posted by mista k5, Tue Oct-18-22 09:22 AM
I think last they said is they're trying to include them so I went ahead and applied. Let them figure it out.
13471313, What category are your loans?
Posted by Sofian_Hadi, Wed Oct-19-22 12:54 PM
13471320, FFEL
Posted by mista k5, Wed Oct-19-22 01:29 PM
If I would have consolidated before the 9/29 I probably would have been good but they previously said to chill so I'm chill.

It would be really nice to get some help with them but if not it is what it is.

When the forgiveness was first announced, they gave the option to consolidate to Direct Loans for FFELP holders, but rescinded that a few days before the beta application went up. They're working on a way to forgive currently excluded loans like FFELP, so they say. Not sure if some of the lawsuits are about this issue.
13471337, Yeah that's why I applied
Posted by mista k5, Wed Oct-19-22 03:41 PM
I do wish I would have jumped on consolidation when they first announced this. From what I understand as long as you applied before 9/29 the expectation is you will get forgiveness. If you didn't apply they are going to try.

I wouldn't be surprised if we don't get an update on that though and they just hope people forget about it. I don't know what options they have to still do it and avoid the lawsuits.

Makes me wish that when they stopped doing FFEL they also converted existing ones into federally held ones automatically. Missed out on no payments during the pandemic and now probably missing out on forgiveness.
13471345, I got the same loan type
Posted by Sponge, Wed Oct-19-22 04:33 PM
I applied anyway, too.
13471561, 8th Circuit Court issues injunction blocking discharge of relief pending
Posted by navajo joe, Sat Oct-22-22 09:08 AM
appeal.

They're calling it an administrative stay pending appeal but it's effectively an emergency injunction.

This is the suit Nebraska v. Biden that the lower court already found had no standing.

It's the 8th Circuit which has 1 judge appointed by a Democrat. Good times ahead.

This Republican fuckery doesn't affect putting in an application.

However, Republicans and their judges are fighting tooth and nail to make sure people don't see relief.

13471601, The fact that Dems cant spin shit like this makes me furious

Abortion and Student Debt Relief should be two easy MASSIVE wins for Democrats but they somehow find a way to bungle both.
13473739, Student loan forgiveness approval letters are going out.
Posted by mista k5, Wed Nov-23-22 01:00 PM
Here's what they mean.

https://www.cbsnews.com/news/student-loan-forgiveness-approval-letters/

I received the approval letter email too. I wonder if they do win if they will take my approval back lol
13473777, It means Biden was serious - and ONLY Republicans can stop it
Posted by handle, Fri Nov-25-22 10:43 AM
And when I say Republicans I mean The Supreme Court.

If it's ruled "illegal" or "unlawful" then you're shit out of luck.

13473783, they made this so easy. how can you hate it?
Posted by PROMO, Fri Nov-25-22 11:55 AM
i woke up on Wednesday to an email saying my application had been approved.

guess what? i never even applied. they just looked at all my financial info that they already have (via tax returns, etc) and automatically applied for me, then approved, my application.

LOL. what's not to love.
13473786, It doesn’t fit the media narrative that the Democrats don’t know
Posted by calij81, Fri Nov-25-22 01:50 PM
What they are doing and are incompetent.
