13463526, You ever modified your car?
Posted by tariqhu, Wed Jun-29-22 03:32 PM
I’ve changed radios and speakers, but thinking about getting new wheels and tires. Yup, at my big age lol.

13463533, Yep...appearance mods, performance mods...

I've either done it to my own cars or "helped" friends do things to theirs.
13463544, this is the first car where I haven't changed the radio.

I might change my mind on that. the factory unit sounds great when listening to Sirius or FM. not as strong when I'm streaming. plus it's an older head unit so it doesn't have android auto.

this cosmetic stuff can be pricey, but once I find the right wheels, I'm doing it.

Any suggestions on where to look for Grand Cherokee stuff?
13463615, Ebay is honestly great for wheels...

I've bought several sets. New, used, any brand you want. For cosmetic stuff, Carid is a great site. They have pretty much anything you could imagine. Summitt is good for performance stuff. Google you a Jeep forum and you'll end up going down a rabbit hole of info on your particular ride.

13463572, I’m not a car guy, but figuring out LED headlights was a life achievement.

The first time I lit up my driveway with them hoes, I was “Pursuit of Happyness” proud.
13463575, This Reminded me I modded my BMW R1150RT to LED head lights

Back in the mid aughts before motorcycles were really on the mass market with them. LEDS are definitely a rewarding and fun mod.

my co-worker gave me instructions since he was a mechanic before. took me two days, but once the cool air hit, it was worth it.

13463663, Upgrading the suspension > upgrading the wheels and tires

I prefer stiffer and tighter than most bouncy stock suspensions.

13463706, Besides stereo and tint, not really

I've had mostly family sedans, so not really too many mods available (or make sense). I would put rims on my wife's bucket, but she wouldn't care. I do need to replace the headlamps, as after 20 years they are a little yellow and cloudy (I could polish them out, but a replacement set of lights is under $90, so it's not quite worth teh effort).

Adding LEDs is always tricky. If the car has projector headlights, LEDs are a bad idea (light won't disburse like it should, as the projector housing is made for a halogen bulb, so you don't get the beam pattern you need AND blind everyone else in the process). Having to wire up ballasts and Can-Bus can be finnicky depending on the car too. I want to say legally the light upgrades are for off rode use only, but unless the cops in your area are super strict there isn't too much hassle.
13463708, sounds like that 90 bucks will be the right move.

I thought about changing my interior lighting because it's pretty dim. I bought the replacements, but have yet to put them in.

13463710, pretty much same

…it’s just a tool to me right now. I’ll afford a one as a toy in the near future.
