13461767, Alienation of Affections
Posted by allStah, Thu Jun-02-22 01:35 PM

I was a reading a news article about a black female celebrity being sued for
engaging in an extramarital romance with a married man, because the illicit
romance led to the female spouse being deprived of love and affection.

I had no idea that this was a civil law. It’s considered to be an archaic law, but there
are some states that still uphold it.

13461770, I think North Carolina still has it. n/m

A chick from NC cheated on her husband with LF and the husband sued.

My comedic brain makes me wonder if this statue came into play after the Hornets first came to NC/Charlotte and wives stopped being content with being accountants’ wives and started having too much fun.

Cox’s counter is interesting. He doesn’t deny having a relationship with the married woman, but says there is no case because “no genuine love or affection existed.” His explanation is that there was mutual attraction, not a case of seduction. A classic case of the “it takes two to tango” reasoning, but one will see how it plays out in court. In terms of the second point, Jeffords says his wife has blocked him on Instagram and blames this and all his other issues in the marriage on the affair with Cox. The lawsuit initially filed on Nov. 22, asks Cox for more than $25,000.

People tell folk to get over it an move on....why should they when there are laws on the books.

13461863, I think this is going to be the new method with dealing

adultery. It was something that was rarely pursued, but now individuals are going
that route. And if you think about it, it makes a lot of sense.

Marriage is a LEGAL union, and if a third person has caused that union to
become damaged or compromised, then that third person can be held liable
for the dissolution of that bond.
