13460103, if Roe v. Wade is overturned, how will it affect your life? Posted by tariqhu, Mon May-09-22 06:07 PM
some of these states might ban IUDs, plan B, and other contraception.
I'm in GA and got the snip or rather the laser. so I should be good.
Definitely worried about the kiddos and my sister. Daughter just turned 18 so she might be trying to get it popping. Son is 13 in another week. got a little more for talks.
My sister is in her 20's and lives in TX. Will talk to her soon to get her thoughts. worried about my younger cousins too. it's prime time for a lot of them with relationships.
Will you have sex less often?
how will this affect your dating life?
long terms/married folks, will yall continue raw dogging?
if you're in a state that's banning abortions, will you move?

13460107, Married with two kids, a vasectomy and I live in California Posted by calij81, Mon May-09-22 06:29 PM
So it won’t really impact me or the people in California.

13460109, It won't. But I'm not fucking with living in a theocracy. Posted by Ryan M, Mon May-09-22 06:44 PM
I'm married - we have no kids and don't plan on doing so. I also live in California, so things probably won't change much if at all here.
While it being overturned wouldn't personally affect me though - the fact that ALL of this other shit is on the table because of some Handsmaid's Tale ass Supreme Court is beyond disheartening. Obviously, America has many, many flaws - but you HOPE that things progress and slowly get better - not go backwards.

I’ve felt like DT being prez was a sign of people wanting to roll shit back as far as possible before the dudes his age die. I didn’t think the witch was dead when he lost the re-election. I think I’m still trying to guess what the next wild shit will be and how rich folks will always somehow have a hint that average people don’t upfront. I try not to worry too much but sometimes I do.

13460118, It will, trust and believe. Posted by Damali, Mon May-09-22 10:19 PM
If legislation can control women's bodies and privacy, it WILL come for yours.
to think otherwise means you don't really understand what's at stake here.

13460122, No, I do. Posted by Ryan M, Mon May-09-22 10:38 PM
I mentioned up in my reply that overturning that leads to a LOT of other shit. I’m aware this country is starting to careen toward a radical Christian theocracy which would of course impact me at that point.
SPECIFICALLY Roe v Wade? Won’t affect me.

13460123, Ask yourself: Has Putin ever called me a racist? Posted by handle, Mon May-09-22 10:40 PM

13460131, I’m not sure what point you’re making. Posted by Ryan M, Tue May-10-22 08:52 AM
I’m PRETTY sure we’re on the same side of this argument though

Tucker's saying that unless an action directly targets you you can just ignore it.
It's a lie.
Sure, Putin never called YOU a racist, and YOU have never had an ABORTION since you do not have a uterus but WHEN Roe V Wade is overturned it will affect you.
It's precedent to roll back basic rights.
And it's using a stupid argument "Since a right is not enumerated then it's not a right." ESPECIALLY because the 9th amendment.
There's no "I" in uterus, just "us."

13460139, I mean, I’m pretty sure I said that. Posted by Ryan M, Tue May-10-22 09:57 AM
This is all semantics at this point. We agree.

13460112, Roe v Wade is being dismantled on the right to privacy Posted by MEAT, Mon May-09-22 07:54 PM
It will affect all our lives in numerous ways and nobody should be so dumb to only think how it will affect their ability to terminate a pregnancy or prevent a birth.

13460128, agreed. it's bigger than abortion. Posted by tariqhu, Tue May-10-22 07:20 AM
my post didn't address the privacy aspects directly.

13460115, it'd really suck losing someone to an ectopic pregnancy Posted by Rjcc, Mon May-09-22 08:48 PM
or an illegal abortion
or going through an investigation and possibly prosecution because of a miscarriage
or just having to live in a world where decisions about their body aren't their own to make

13460143, I have two kids, so this could be a serious issue for them Posted by Cold Truth, Tue May-10-22 11:05 AM
Both for my daughter and my son. There’s an impact for men and boys here, too.
It’s not just abortions either. These idiots want to take away contraception options as well.
Frankly- and sadly- I think the only way to get these buffoons in the GOP to fall back in this shit is for it to start impacting them and their white sons.
When their precious white sons start racking up bastards and child support payments on that manifest destiny trail, perhaps that would be enough for them to fall back on this shit.
But I doubt it.
We’re in Cali, so we should be relatively insulated from this, but maybe not, and certainly not if we get a GOP governor.

13460174, nah, they assume they'll always be able to pay for illegal abortions Posted by Rjcc, Tue May-10-22 08:14 PM

13460188, Married - Biggest Fear is Ectopic Pregnancy Posted by Thee Phantom, Wed May-11-22 07:59 AM
I'm not losing my wife fam.
|
13460195, To my understanding, Ectopic pregnancy falls under the exception Posted by allStah, Wed May-11-22 10:05 AM
rule that even diehard Catholics support, so that’s not going anywhere. That’s a life or death situation.
A fetus can’t survive outside of the uterus, and the woman’s life is also at risk , so abortion is the ONLY solution...early stages( medication) or later stages ( surgery).

13460215, I wonder what else they can/will overturn? Posted by kingjerm78, Wed May-11-22 02:12 PM

Then of course walked it back...
|
13460235, going all out because they keep going unchecked Posted by Stadiq, Wed May-11-22 04:39 PM
Every inch they take with so little resistance is just validating there will be no opposition.
Nation-wide ban, no exceptions for rape or incest, no exceptions for danger to the mother, prosecuting anyone who goes to a 'safe state' for abortions, and prosecuting past abortions as murder have all been hinted at by various GOP figures.
Not to mention the consequences this could have on privacy laws and states' rights to do whatever evil shit they want.
-On the bright side, the "good guys" rushed to *checks notes*
-beef up security for SC Justices who were bothered by protests
-wax poetic about needing a strong Republican party the good ole days (bitch, how much stronger can they get? Thats the problem)
-talk about a preference for **convincing republicans rather than defeating them** (lol I'm crying)
-and talk about reducing the deficit.
