As others have said it was social media before social media. Before like and angry algorithms created an echo chamber....

What you could find-- particularly in the sports board is a community that loved sports deeply despite various affiliations. There was a diversity of thought and opinion that gave fodder for great debates and rivalries, and different perspectives.

At the same time it was a relatively safe space-- especially away from racism that is a part of so many other communities. No im not saying that racism or racists didnt exist in OKS, but most those people would get weeded on in the community. It wasnt like going to reddit (now) or the pac12 or sec message boards where those people had no context and understanding of racism.
