13452000, Anyone still playing video games?
Posted by MEAT, Tue Jan-18-22 11:16 AM
I just finished Archvale. One part Zelda, one part bullet time hell. It was a fun run.

I don't know what I'm getting into next though. Hopefully that new Zelda drops soon.
13452002, for like a week every month or two
Posted by mista k5, Tue Jan-18-22 11:21 AM
last game i was spending time in was links awakening on switch. enjoying it but havent played in a few weeks.

before that i spent some time playing super mario 3d world, need to finish that.
13452003, What platform are you on?
Posted by FLUIDJ, Tue Jan-18-22 11:27 AM
13452004, There's an xbox s that gets near zero play time
Posted by MEAT, Tue Jan-18-22 11:46 AM
Bought it in October because I wanted to play Killer Instinct
There's a switch that's been dormant outside of family games and indie titles
I do steam every now and then, but I need to update to windows since my new laptop is on ubuntu and I have no idea how to use it.
Oh and there's a last generation Oculus headset
13452016, Dang...sounds like me. The kids keep loosing access to the Switch
Posted by FLUIDJ, Tue Jan-18-22 01:15 PM
as "punishment"

I've only had time to do about 75min on Forza 6 Horizons...enjoying it though...

Mario Odyssey is the bees knees on Switch...

Also...surprise hit in the household has been the Nintendo Ring Fit game...the 9 year old loves it and the 5 year old is getting into it too...I guess the adults need to get it in for a spell now...

Finding enough time in the day/week/month is a major challenge!

13452005, Just finished Returnal
Posted by Airbreed, Tue Jan-18-22 11:55 AM
That game is brutal AF.

13452007, For me? Rarely. But frequently, with my son. Mario games galore
Posted by Cold Truth, Tue Jan-18-22 12:37 PM
Mainly, it’s whatever his current favorites happen to be.

Mario Kart
Mario 3D World
Mario vs Sonic Olympic games

They’re fun enough but i’m bored put of my mind with all of these at this point. On a good day, we take turns with Kingdom Hearts, and on a great day, we’ll play Ratchet & Clank. Great days are increasingly rare, lmao.

Yoshi’s Crafted World, which is just about the “cutest” game I’ve ever seen. It’s downright adorable. I have my limits on this one.

Sometimes he dips into older, 2D Mario games and I play that with him. Donkey Kong Country is probably his favorite old school game.

For myself, very little. It’s an NBA 2K game or two, here and there, I hit a chapter of Final Fantasy 7 Remake every once in awhile. But not much outside of that. GTA is in the shelf indefinitely.

Maybe one day when i strike it rich with Crypto and i get to set my hours, no longer have to punch this 9 to 5 card, I’ll hit the God of War series or some shit.
13452020, I bought a PS4 for the first time in my life during quarantine
Posted by guru0509, Tue Jan-18-22 01:46 PM
before that, the last gaming console I had was the OG PlayStation

now I got a ps5

I love Ghost of Tsushima, its my favorite video game ever (Metal Gear Phantom Pain is a very close second.

lately, I've been playing Death Loop

…started with 2k20 and elder scrolls…now it’s 2k22 and ghost of Tsushima.
GOT is so good..…I’ll just replay old missions after a long day…I’ve had it since it first dropped in 2020…amazing game.
13452184, I got my kids an oculous headset. I dabbled with Super hot...
Posted by Buddy_Gilapagos, Thu Jan-20-22 10:03 AM
then I started to hog that bad boy until I beat it. Tht ish was amazing, even though it was such a basic game.

Anything else like it out there?

Which has slowly become mine LOL. I’m low key loving the downtime in the evenings when everyone goes to sleep

Sports games are still my go to so it’s madden and 2k. A little bit of call of duty too.
13452259, PS5, XBSX, Switch, so yeah. Still playing.
Posted by Innocent Criminal, Fri Jan-21-22 08:21 AM
Now that my son is 8, there's some stuff we play together which is a pretty good experience.
13452262, waiting on Pokemon Arceus. hopefully its good

Sword/Shield was horrible
13452264, I'm impatiently waiting
Posted by Numba_33, Fri Jan-21-22 09:23 AM
for the new Horizon Zero Dawn and God of War to drop so I can justify my decision on buying the PS5 last year. I don't play games that consistently to be honest. For months on months, my PS5 has literally been doing nothing but collecting dust.

I did recently beat Control on the PS5. I downloaded it for free last year on the PS4 via it being free on Playstation Plus and out of sheer boredom, I recently figured out how to re-download games I downloaded on the PS4 to my PS5. The improved hardware on the PS5 helped to make Control play a hell of a lot smoother than it did on the PS4.

Other than that, I play intermittent rounds of UNO on my Switch. I purchased UNO on sale during the holidays.

**edit**

I should note that I am somewhat excited to play Sifu on the PS5. The combat system and the aging mechanic in the game looks fairly interesting. I'm hoping there aren't too many glitches in the fighting system that take away from being immersed in the game.
13452272, My backlog is ridiculous
Posted by Kira, Fri Jan-21-22 10:26 AM
Got a ps4 with north of 66+ games, a Switch Lite collecting dust, and an unused Vita.

It's still fuck M$ and their $70.5 billion purchase of Activision.
13452391, oh, both of the Spiderman games are amazing too, esp Miles Morales
Posted by guru0509, Sun Jan-23-22 01:58 PM
the attention to detail in the NYC maps is amazing. It feels weird swinging past my apartment in a video game lol

13452443, I’m not a marvel / dc / comic book person at all …

But this game is so fun . I wonder if they will make a Batman or avengers game for ps5

13452444, Gotham Knights is this year or next year.
Posted by JFrost1117, Mon Jan-24-22 02:05 PM
Not featuring Batman exactly, but the Bat Family (Robin, Nightwing (formerly Robin), Red Hood (also formerly Robin), and Batgirl).

I would suggest Arkham Knight, as it should be backwards compatible for PS5. It still looks beautiful, despite the age.
13452448, I don't remember which Batman game it is
Posted by Numba_33, Mon Jan-24-22 02:21 PM
but one of them is one of the free remastered Playstation 4 games available for free on the PS5 as a Playstation Plus download. I believe there are 12 games in total that are part of that Playstation Plus free download package for Playstation 5 folks.

I think the Batman game that I'm referring to is the one with the Batmobile that I disliked, but I could be wrong.
13452450, That’s Arkham Knight.

replayed some of my favorites on the 5. Spider-Man and Spider-Man Miles Morales. Both are really good and even better with some added missions and gameplay. Miles Morales is a fucking marvelous game…period. Currently replaying the story mode on Injustice 2. Such an aesthetically pleasing game. I got hella PlayStation Store gift cards for Christmas, so I’ve preordered GT7 and the redone Uncharted bundle. Other than that, I’m patiently waiting on the new God of War.
13452442, you gotta play Ghost of Tsushima , esp on ps5
Posted by guru0509, Mon Jan-24-22 01:45 PM
The frame rate is so smooth , it’s great on ps4 too but it feels more like a film 🎥

If you like ninjas / samurais , medieval history violent , hand to hand combat AND stealth / espionage ?

You can’t go wrong . This game is flawless in every way possible .

I found an article with a charm layout for high damage and Resolve regeneration, but I sacrificed a Major charm for the lightning strike and one Minor charm to make my kills more bloody. I laughed the whole way through the NG+ playthrough because I'm in cutscenes soaked in blood.

13452400, I just started streaming games on Twitch in the new year.
Posted by squeeg, Sun Jan-23-22 08:29 PM
Mostly playing retro and retro-styled games on the weekends. Making a stream schedule has forced me to make time to play my games instead just acquiring them. Right now I'm playing The Mummy Demastered for PS4, Metal Gear Solid for Game Boy Color, and The Battle of Olympus for the NES.

13452451, i thought about doing this to force me into ranked on guilty gear strive
Posted by bearfield, Mon Jan-24-22 03:33 PM
maybe being recorded/on camera will force me to be more rational about match adjustments vs rage quitting when i get tough opponent/matchup or latam player with an awful connection. usually just play casual and beat up on lesser opponents. it's essentially live combo practice and i don't think i am improving at the game doing this

i am also considering streaming my stationary biking gaming sessions. i can't play every kind of game and i am limited to consoles *and* i wouldn't even know where to start to get the no-really-i-am-on-the-stationary-bike cam going but i think it would be novel and a good excuse to do some long sporadic (3-4x/week) playthroughs of low impact gaming and medium impact cardio

for the kids....
I don't think I'm going to be able to get them back on the Switch anytime soon now that they've gotten a taste of high quality graphics.

I went into the game not expecting anything good at all....but came away impressed after a nearly 2 hour session with them!

Please believe that Fight Night is still good times even vs the computer. It is still a mess but it is a gorgeous mess and a good use of a couple of hours every now and then. And that soundtrack!? Yeah, that soundtrack.

13452672, I've kept a game system in my house since the 2600
Posted by spenzalii, Thu Jan-27-22 02:46 PM
Has the PS1-Ps4. Will get a PS5 once I take care of some adulting things and I can find one without selling my soul and daughter to get one.

Currently waiting on Horizon Forbidden West and Gran Turismo 7. Will likely get them both on the PS4 and then upgrade once I get the PS5.

I still have my PS3 hooked up because my friends still like Rock Band, and I've got too many DLC songs on that I don't want to redo (or may not have the license to anymore)

13453106, Pokemon Arceus is flawed but fire.
Posted by BrooklynWHAT, Fri Feb-04-22 10:35 AM
this is the type of Pokemon game we have always wanted. they just need to fix a few things for the next installment:
- graphics
- go back to the normal battle system instead of this weird FFX hybrid
- bring back gyms/E4. the story in this is more side-plot level than main campaign

but lord catching Pokemon and being a trainer has never been so thrilling. there's all kinds of tricks and stealth options to run up on a Pokemon undetected. or if you about that life just run up face first.
13453256, picked up the remastered tony hawk 1+2 and mario + rabbids
Posted by mista k5, Mon Feb-07-22 01:14 PM
Both are pretty fun, surprisingly the rabbids one is grabbing me more. TH is a bit annoying to me since I have such limited time to achieve the goals that I don't really get to enjoy the levels. I also wish it had more old school rap songs...kind of the main reason I remember the games so fondly lol

With Rabbids you get eased into it and there's enough variety that it keeps you interested. When I read the description for the game it definitely didn't seem like something I would like. That's why I have avoided it this long. Turns out it's pretty much the type of game that works best for me. I can pick it up thinking I'll play 20 minutes and it keeps me playing for an hour lol Just as I thought it was too easy the last couple of battles have been close.

I wish it was a little more active like Letterboxd (or rather, it was even closer to Letterboxd or RateYourMusic than a much higher quality MetaCritic User Review section) and I've been bogged down on just a handful of games lately so my activity's been low too, but I like the site. RateYourMusic also has a video game section but for some reason I didn't use it like that

13453293, Purchased the Final Fantasy VII remake for PS5.
Posted by Numba_33, Tue Feb-08-22 09:26 AM
I had the remake for the PS4, but lost interest when it initially dropped for whatever reasons. I bought the PS5 version again at Target two or so weeks ago since it was on sale. The game is pretty linear but I do like the little changes in the story that I see so far. The Cloud cross dressing section was pretty interesting to say the least. I do home the Summons for the next chapters are buffed and upgraded compared to the three that I have at the moment.

I think I'll begrudgingly cop the next game in the series to see what other changes/flourishes are added for the next chapters in the story.

13455290, Got 5 free months of Game Pass
Posted by WarriorPoet415, Tue Mar-08-22 10:18 AM
Used it to start Octopath Traveler (about 1/2 way through) Really nice jrpg.

Also downloaded Nier Automata, but it's leaving GamePass at the end of March so I don't know if it's worth keeping up with it. I just started it. We'll see.

I also downloaded SubNautica and Far: Changing Tides. FCT is a cool little artsy side scroller. Haven't touched SN yet.

AND THEN.....my dumb ass bought Elden Ring. I gotta stop with the Souls-like games. I'm not that good at them. I have Nioh on PS4, Sekiro and all three Souls joints. I've only beaten Souls 2. Was on my way to beating Souls 3 and got distracted/busy and tried to jump back in, where I left off and I was totally lost. Sekiro sucked my soul out early and I keep telling myself I'll go back, but *sigh*

Started a Samurai on Elden Ring, made some decent early progress. Will probably get back into it and use plenty of internet sites to figure out what the hell to do.

And all of the above games have interrupted my run on Far Cry 6. Which interrupted my run on Watch Dogs: Legion, which interrupted my run on Assassin's Creed Valhalla.

So yeah. Backlog.

You end up playing through 3 times to finish it, the story, while great, is quite far up its own ass (but many JRPG-ish games are, so it's nothing new), and there are literally 26 endings, most of which are fakeouts. But, the gameplay, and the blending of the various styles of play, is engaging and the soundtrack is phenomenal, full stop.
