13451169, Which sport's fans have the most questionable music taste? Posted by Bambino Grande, Thu Jan-06-22 05:38 AM
This post and question is inspired by following a bunch of tennis accounts on Instagram where 9.5 out of 10 clips opt for some bro-ey dubstep EDM Tiktok mashup with drops and wobble bass

13451213, Distance running (all surfaces) Posted by Walleye, Thu Jan-06-22 02:44 PM
I was nineteen, at the Jim Drews Invitational at UW-Lacrosse the first time I heard a two-hour pregame mix of songs that mention running at least once, broken up only by three different instances of "sandstorm" and I've heard the exact same lineup dozens of times since.
Distance runners are absolute hogs for acknowledgement. It's very embarrassing.

13451276, It was stuck in my head during my and only college DNF Posted by Walleye, Fri Jan-07-22 10:20 AM

Stadiums blaring shitty songs and even more shitty marching band covers at half time.

13451236, Oh god - I got to Ann Arbor a couple times a year. Posted by Brew, Thu Jan-06-22 04:16 PM
My father in law is alumni and has season tix so we are fortunate enough to go to a couple games every year. It's a lot of fun.
But fuck - Mr. Brightside and shit ?? Get that nonsense out of my face.
As a Patriots season ticket holder, I can say they do a decent job at Gillette. Their touchdown song is absolutely abhorrent and offensive, but they play a lot of hip-hop .. Interlude by JayZ really gets the crowd going (i.e. me), they play Snoop, and a bunch of other good stuff. So I can live with that haha.
|
13451244, As a Michigan alum I am so confused about Mr. Brightside... Posted by soulfunk, Thu Jan-06-22 04:42 PM
I've literally never heard that song outside of Michigan games. I get that college fan bases get connections to random songs based on when groups go through school and then start being played at the stadium. But the demographics of our fan base at games are so wide in terms of generations, I have no idea how stuff like this happens:

|
13451246, Hahah right. It's a weird song choice. Posted by Brew, Thu Jan-06-22 04:45 PM
But I will admit that no matter the song, it is kinda the best when an entire stadium is singing one song in unison - especially one the size of The Big House. Just wish it was almost literally any other song haha.

13451275, gotta be honest, it gave me chills during the B1GCG Posted by cgonz00cc, Fri Jan-07-22 10:19 AM
to be able to hear it THAT clearly thru the TV at a "neutral" field was pretty amazing
|
13451280, To be fair EVERYTHING about the OSU game and B1GCG Posted by soulfunk, Fri Jan-07-22 10:31 AM
was giving me chills. I was rocking Pump It Up non stop for a good couple weeks...
I was in my family room holding up folding chairs and everything and I don't even know what it means. It's provocative - get's the people going...
|
13451286, Yea for sure. Like I said I wish it was a different song ... Posted by Brew, Fri Jan-07-22 11:09 AM
... but it's really cool when 111,000 people are cheering in unison regardless of the song.

13451375, Idk but there’s a surprising number of ICP fans in OKS LOL Posted by Amritsar, Sun Jan-09-22 06:00 AM
They seem to gravitate towards college sports
Do with this what you want

13451383, RE: ICP??? Say what now? Posted by Amritsar, Sun Jan-09-22 02:12 PM
I’m not sure if I can name names Hahaa.
during the lesson glory days, some of them came in trying to essentially troll with ICP stuff. And it was received, as you would imagine iCP would be received lol
|
13451385, Ceej and Ernestlee used to have ICP aliases to mock lessonheads Posted by guru0509, Sun Jan-09-22 06:39 PM
& the pretentiousness/ clique-yness of music nerds in the lesson.
as you can imagine they thought it was the actual band members ...they got outraged/upset/emotional, and we all had a laugh in OKS.
Satire/parody sometimes goes over some peoples heads, and he clearly didnt get the "joke"
Edit....(We also had Karl Malone and Robert Kelly aliases here. I wonder if he thinks they were real as well)
|
13451386, Lol, I must’ve missed all that Posted by DJR, Sun Jan-09-22 06:58 PM

13451835, oh man that shit was hilarious Posted by 40thStreetBlack, Fri Jan-14-22 09:43 PM

|
13451387, lol yeah I was just gonna mention Ceej and that it was NEVER real... Posted by soulfunk, Sun Jan-09-22 07:20 PM
And the nuance and layers of comedy on OKS used to be higher than ANYTHING on the net. Literally ANYTHING. Nowhere else can you see agendas and inside jokes that have evolved over multiple decades, outlasting entire generations of athletes.

13451472, I know ceej. Not the others Posted by Amritsar, Mon Jan-10-22 06:48 PM
There’s a current poster named Ceej who I was referring to in my original Post. You know, named after the front man of ICP
This isn’t difficult
|
13451484, bruh. Posted by cgonz00cc, Mon Jan-10-22 08:11 PM
the frontman of ICP is Violent J. also, not really a "frontman" but whatever. his partner is Shaggy 2 Dope
Ceej made an alias inspired by that known as ViolentCeej. ErnestLeee made Ernie2Dope. the other posters from Detroit acted as "juggalos". it was a recurring gag lmao.
Why would you think "Ceej" was in homage to ICP?
i certainly wouldn't have *thought* it was difficult, but im currently re-evaluating that belief...

13451463, Best music I've seen in a minute: SoFi stadium Posted by T Reynolds, Mon Jan-10-22 04:42 PM
Made Niners / Rams even more enjoyable
Now that they're not playing music on Quinceanera speakers their song choice can shine
Barclays gets a nod for Nets games and boxing events
|
13451476, SoFi's speaker system is some shit Posted by Mynoriti, Mon Jan-10-22 06:59 PM
i missed the game yesterday but highlights wise its crazy how many 9er fans were there
Rams games are generally good for at least 30% opposing fans except for teams that travel well like the Cowboys or Steelers. I know there's no shortage of 49er fans but i didn't expcect them to be THAT deep
My only gripe with SoFi was the parking mess. everyone's an asshole lol
|
13451539, That was a Niner home game bro Posted by T Reynolds, Tue Jan-11-22 01:40 PM
even Cowboys at Metlife this year wasn't that bad
as well as Rams fans travel too. They come to NYC and ride the subway all week to watch their team make a mockery of the Giants
But then get outbid by tech bros in SoFi's second year in a 12-win season?
Very confused man
|
13451572, Yeah for some reason i lost sight of the 9ers popularity Posted by Mynoriti, Tue Jan-11-22 07:22 PM
even though i know several 49er fans. it seemed like when we were young everyone was a Cowboys 49ers or Raider fan.
Only game i went to at SoFi was about 30% Titans fans which was a little surprising but not really.
At the Colosseum there were more Seahawks fans than Rams fans, Even Bucaneers fans were deep which was pretty suprising to me... it was a couple years ago but pre-Brady
i didn't really think Rams fans traveled at all lol
|
13451477, Barclays has a really good presentation for nets games Posted by BrooklynWHAT, Mon Jan-10-22 07:10 PM
|
13451553, the DJ at Barclays for Nets games is an OKP Posted by guru0509, Tue Jan-11-22 03:44 PM
(im joking but it seems that way)
Ive heard Black Star, Mobb Deep, Pharcyde, SMif N Wessun, LOOTPACK!, Street Biggie (aka Who SHot ya Invincible, Gimme Da Loot ) etc ...lol when I was growing up and went to Pistons games the DJ's only played classic rock anthems.
>Made Niners / Rams even more enjoyable > >Now that they're not playing music on Quinceanera speakers >their song choice can shine > >Barclays gets a nod for Nets games and boxing events
|
13451562, There's definitely a difference with what you hear at Barclays Posted by T Reynolds, Tue Jan-11-22 04:45 PM
vs. MSG or MetLife
It's surprisingly nice to hear 90s rap at a game vs. Gary Glitter
