13448662, I meant would you gladly volunteer Posted by atruhead, Wed Nov-24-21 01:28 PM
I cant imagine any man who cared about his relationship is putting up a fight if she asks
|
13448663, I've done it before without prompt. Posted by tariqhu, Wed Nov-24-21 01:43 PM
it's not the most common action as we both tend to make our on plates.

13448665, Not if she doesn’t ask Posted by Ryan M, Wed Nov-24-21 02:21 PM
Or is in need of it in some way.
Thanksgiving plates are all about personal ratios. I like a lot of stuffing, for example. And while I know the foods my wife prefers - there’s no way I’d get it exactly right (nor would she for me) so unless she NEEDS me to, no - im not gonna volunteer that.
|
13448666, depends on the circumstance...i wouldn't have a problem with it though Posted by Cenario, Wed Nov-24-21 02:22 PM
but yeah, what ryan said...if its a meal with multiple options, people wanna make their own plate.

13448671, Nobody should be making anyone's Thanksgiving plate Posted by PimpTrickGangstaClik, Wed Nov-24-21 02:32 PM
Unless that person is under the age of 10.
Nobody knows how much cranberry sauce they want on that day. How much sweet potatoes. How many rolls.
Don't even get me started on plate layout.
Thanksgiving plates are a build your own type deal.

13448672, I look at is as an act of love Posted by atruhead, Wed Nov-24-21 02:40 PM
as for how much food, I would ask what she wanted and take instructions on amounts
|
13448675, ..... not if you know your spouse. Posted by Cold Truth, Wed Nov-24-21 02:55 PM

If you and yours are complete strangers, I suppose.
We both know exactly what to put and what not to put on that plate.

13448677, Even I don't know what I want on my plate until I get up there Posted by PimpTrickGangstaClik, Wed Nov-24-21 03:05 PM

13448679, I joke with my wife that I'm a male chauvinist at Thanksgiving lol Posted by auragin_boi, Wed Nov-24-21 03:07 PM
I refuse to cook. lol Which I don't think they want me cooking anyway. hahaha
But I'll gladly do clean up (before and after if we're hosting), store runs if needed, handle kids, entertain guest, etc. But I'm only in the kitchen when it's time for food.
She likes to make my plate (so I oblige lol) but there's been occasions where she was handling a few other things and I just made her a plate. And I ask what she wants (depending on venue and who cooked what food...those choices change).
But most of the time, she's ok with the division of duties.

I would. No problems on looking out for Mrs. Jimmy. This isn't one of those 'woman proposing to the man' type gender roles convos, is it?
In general, my wife will try to make my plate for me and I'll be on some old 'let me do it cuz I need to see what I'm gonna want, how much, and all of that'. For her, its kinda the same deal. She might not know what she wants for sure until she's making the plate, putting it together, and seeing how it all looks.

13448691, not at all one of those conversations Posted by atruhead, Wed Nov-24-21 04:40 PM
>I would. No problems on looking out for Mrs. Jimmy. This isn't >one of those 'woman proposing to the man' type gender roles >convos, is it? Im against chauvinism if that's the root of anyone's "no", especially if it comes with the expectation that the woman is supposed to fix the man's plate
|
13448690, it’d depend on the house were eating at lol Posted by BrooklynWHAT, Wed Nov-24-21 04:28 PM
if it’s my family definitely not. I’d never hear the end of it from the women or the men. We still do gender roles in our family for the most part
Her family, depends on the temperature of her family
We’re hosting? I mean she’s probably eating last anyway just based on how it typically goes for the woman of the house whenever hosting is involved.
Doing a Friendsgiving kind of thing? Yeah I don’t mind making her a plate.

13448692, this is another rabbit hole for sure Posted by atruhead, Wed Nov-24-21 04:43 PM
>if it’s my family definitely not. I’d never hear the end >of it from the women or the men. We still do gender roles in >our family for the most part I have baggage behind families telling other grown adults how their lives should run. one of the only non-negotiables in a relationship should be mutual respect
|
13448702, of course.. because she would do the same for me Posted by legsdiamond, Thu Nov-25-21 12:25 AM
if I asked or was busy.
never understood why this is a big deal for some people.
why wouldn’t someone do something nice for their SO?

I'm Vegan. Sometimes she doesn't eat that way. Especially when folks are offering rare delicacies. Though, I do have her second guessing everyone's ability to prepare meats lol.
