Judging 'environment'? Yeah, its tough. But my point was that lots of people assume the best with absolutely no supporting information when changing gigs. IE: they think if they leave a job they don't like, the next one will certainly be better just because they might have a good convo with HR or the hiring person at the next place.

OR

More dangerously than that, folks might have a decent enough gig in terms of who they work with but they want to leave to 'make more money'. And when they find that gig with more money, they assume that the environment will be at least equal at the next place. Then you show up and your coworkers are assclowns and/or the people you actually work for are dummies, jerks, or dumb jerks.
