13440823, It was all good just a week ago (RE: Mike Richards/Jeopardy host search)

Dude flew too close to the sun.

Went from running things behind the scenes at Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy.
Tried to put himself in the spotlight by inserting himself as host of Jeopardy.
People did their digging.
Now he has no jobs.

He should have stayed in the shadows

13440844, I don't know what they were thinking. They were so scared of the

old audience (their audience reportedly is people in their 60's or older) that they just didn't do the obvious and give Levar Burton the job. They just had to test stuff out for the old audience and choose somebody that seemed .................................
13440847, I think Ken jennings was the obv. choice
Posted by handle, Tue Aug-31-21 03:22 PM
I love Levar in general - but he's not Ken Jennings on Jeopardy.

A primetime time kids tournament Jeopardy hosted by Levar, I'd watch that.

Blossom was/is a bad choice to me.
13440848, Ken is kinda annoying. Levar is more of a calming presence.
Posted by c71, Tue Aug-31-21 03:25 PM
I don't thinking an annoying person (Ken) is a good choice.
13440854, i thought ken was the best pick because of his history with the show.
Posted by Reeq, Tue Aug-31-21 04:05 PM
and he has a unique hosting quality where it comes off like he is just naturally giving the answers (questions) as if he already knows all of the information (he most likely really does lol).

13440860, Agreed. Ken was annoying back when he was a competitor, but
Posted by soulfunk, Tue Aug-31-21 04:36 PM
he became endearing over the years, and especially in that GOAT contest against James and Brad. In his guest host run he didn't have the broadcaster voice quality that others have, but like you mentioned he sounded very natural and comfortable as a host.

13440862, He's also got decent politics and is borderline great on twitter in that regard.

13440845, this was really some white male arrogance shit.
Posted by Reeq, Tue Aug-31-21 03:13 PM
this was arguably the most high profile hosting auditions in history.

and in the end...dude just decided to completely ignore all of that and install himself lol.
13440849, No question.

13440851, What a fantastic rise and fall...

Without knowing anything about the dude, he actually did a very solid job when the host rotations all started.

As an executive producer, I figured that he wasn't really auditioning and was just a placeholder. It almost wouldn't be fair to give him the job. But once it came out that he was a dirtbag and was influencing the search in his favor. He had to go.

Levar was just OK when he hosted. But he didn't get as much time as some of the other hosts. Plus, he's a television vet and he would have found his groove. They should let Levar have it. they could still do special guest hosts from time to time just to mix it up.

13440852, I am entertained.

This whole situation rubbed me wrong. I've seen so many people act like this guy and actually get away with it.

13440859, The absolute audacity of this dude.
Posted by Ryan M, Tue Aug-31-21 04:27 PM
To be the EP of not only Jeopardy, but also Wheel of Fortune - 2 absolute institutions that HAVE to be some of the cushiest shows to executive produce (and are probably lucrative as all get out), and get fired because you decided, "I should be the host" is absolutely bonkers.

Not to mention the host 'search' to begin with was clearly a sham.

Ultimately, it's hilarious because most (if not all) of the uproar is probably from people who don't even watch Jeopardy. But this guy was just THAT stupid. I'm embarrassed FOR him.
13440861, a tiny pebble amongst the falling debris of Babylon. Good riddance.

13440896, I've enjoyed the fall of this Dude just about as much as anyone.
Posted by Buddy_Gilapagos, Wed Sep-01-21 09:29 AM
And I don't know why because I don't know much more about him then I read in that Ringer article.

This is also a good example of how loosely the term cancel culture is thrown around. Dude is not being treated like this because of some lame podcast jokes he made a decade ago. He is being treated like this because dude seems like a legitimate ahole, he fuzzed with an institution everyone loves and he treated Levar and Jennings like booty. Its enough to unite a country.

13440898, Why would you allow a producer to hijack the hosting gig??
Posted by Sofian_Hadi, Wed Sep-01-21 09:38 AM
Thats blatantly obvious and just dumb all around for all involved.

They really can’t help themselves.

Why is Levar when you can use some lame ass toxic producer no one has ever heard of before. Clearly that was a better idea then shutting the fuck up and keeping your cozy gig.
13441204, shoulda stayed in food and beverage...

grand openin grand closin
13441259, Nobody wanted him. Most fans want Levar Burton, or Ken Jennings.
