I mean, it was a genuine "gotcha" moment that made him look like a hypocrite. And it was at one of the most posh/expensive restaurants in the state. Everything just screamed "liberal elitist."

But, that's all they had. And most people who voted for the recall didn't rank COVID that high as the most important issues in the election (which is why they lost). And it happened over a year ago at this point.

In an election where there was a more viable Republican candidate, instead of Elder, Faulconer, and Simon Smith and his Amazing Dancing Bear, they might have been able to pull it off. But the kind of Republican candidate doesn't exist who might have been able to do it doesn't exist anymore.
