13437636, Is your doctor Black?
Posted by legsdiamond, Tue Jul-20-21 10:31 AM
My wife and I have Black physicians and its been a game changer.

There were things I would hesitate to do or shots I would refuse to get (Flu shot) but yeah once that expertise and recommendation comes from a Black doctor.. it just feels like a trusted source.

Unless its Ben Carson.. lol.

Seriously tho, if at all possible, if you are Black, find a Black doctor, dentist, etc if you can.

13437637, African but otherwise yes

Now that I’m back on insurance, had to hold off the search for a few months between jobs. I haven’t been to the doctor in like 12 years though

Dentist is a family friend. The granddad was my parents dentist forever. His son is my dentist. I grew up playing soccer with some of the 3rd gen of their fam

I use black docs other things. not exclusively, but I do look for them and see if they'll fit my needs.

My dad had to see an Indian doctor and I went with him. First thing the doctor did was ask me what was my profession.

Prolly wanted to see if my pops was lying when he told him my profession.
13437702, maybe your dad's doc was funny, but I've never had

My chiropractor is Black, but he's kinda shaky
13437815, Black American or African descent?
Posted by Mori, Wed Jul-21-21 10:39 PM
I have had a ton of African physicians and a few Black American (ADOS) physicians.

The Black Americans kept it real and always acknowledged historical racism.

African doctors not so much.
13437830, You be typing some weird stuff sometimes fam lol....

13437829, You'd think it'd be easy around here...but it's been a challenge.

My wife had a Black OBGYN....but she retired mid-pandemic.
Our General Physician is non-white...but the way these offices work nowadays when you make an appointment it's usually just with whoever has an opening in the office.
I'd love to find a place where i'm guaranteed to see the SAME Dr. ALL the time..
Even our pediatrician's office is like that...you make an appointment with the office, not the individual Dr. You can request...but if they don't have an open appointment you just roll with whomever does...

13438093, real talk.. I prolly wouldn’t see a doctor regularly if he wasn’t Black

Originally we had picked a Hispanic female doctor. When we 1st met with her, I asked if she would speak Spanish to our daughter. She said that she doesn't speak it enough and mainly she would only be talking to us so that wouldn't make too much sense. After that we switched over to Dr.James. We really like him we've, we've seen him a few times so it's great to have that exposure for our daughter.
13438111, wait, what?
