In April of 1865 Lee surrendered and the Civil War and confederacy were done
It wasn’t until June 19th that the Union Troops arrived in Galveston to enforce the law.
This isn’t a small quibble. This is the core of why Juneteenth is REVERED by generations of Texans.
At least try to understand the need for specificity in the date. Because when you flatten it, even unintentionally it leads to erasure.
