13434566, Generation Z’er commits a murder, then immediately talks about it on Posted by allStah, Sun Jun-06-21 02:17 PM
IG while fleeing the cops. And continues to record himself while running on foot and while getting arrested.
SMH. This stuff is now the norm when communicating, no matter what the issue is. The whole world must know every private and personal thing they do, even if it incriminates them.

13434681, No Doubt Posted by allStah, Mon Jun-07-21 06:17 PM
I think since we know how life was before the existence of the internet and social media, and we didn’t have devices that allowed us to have immediate contact to the world, we ( our generation) valued privacy and confidentiality.
We don’t allow technology to use us. We us it, and we know when and how to use it.

13434682, only today's young folks do dumb stuff for attention? Posted by tariqhu, Mon Jun-07-21 06:22 PM
these folks aren't different. if cell phones existed during any previous time, it would be the same results. including old heads talking about how they're smarter.

13434692, You need to re-read Posted by allStah, Mon Jun-07-21 07:56 PM
You’re basically saying what I stated.
Again, I said since we existed BEFORE the creation of social media and the internet, we know what life was before it, so we have a better understanding of privacy.
Which is in line with your comment - “if those things existed when we were young, we would be doing the same thing”
Note: The previous poster stated he was glad he was exposed to the internet 15 years prior to what it is now..... not being exposed to it now. The Younger generation was born into this ,so it’s more of a normal way of communicating for them.
In the past there were one-off situations, but live posting and twitting daily life movements, regardless of what danger the person is in, has become a normal occurrence.

13434703, your post title says gen z, as if they're built differently than Posted by tariqhu, Mon Jun-07-21 09:52 PM
previous generations. there was no need to specifically call that out. people have always been dumb and wanted attention.

13434724, All generations don’t do the same things, Posted by allStah, Tue Jun-08-21 08:01 AM
where it becomes normative or the way of life for that era or time.
And this is why generations call out other generations.
Boomers called out The Silent generation for the wars on third world countries, marketing and promotion of cigarettes and alcohol, and the forming of commercialism.
Generation X called out Boomers for pushing the crack cocaine era, creating Disco music(lol), pushing capitalism and stock market greed.
Millennials called out Generation Xers for being trust fund babies and credit card junkies..
Even though generations are a byproduct of past generations, they form their own customs, culture and way of thinking because of it.... Generation Z will highly be associated with this era of social media because of the way they use it.

13434790, its the same.. just different methods used for attention Posted by legsdiamond, Tue Jun-08-21 03:54 PM
people been filming their crimes or leaving notes and shit.. we just have better devices to get more attention much faster.
|
13434789, bruh.. this is no different than dudes going back to the hood Posted by legsdiamond, Tue Jun-08-21 03:51 PM
after a robbery to flash cash and tell all their people
There was a local basketball star Herb Pope who played for Seton Hall years back from back home. He robbed the bank in our town in a GOLD BMW.. then immediately went home and parked the car in front of his house.
and anyone who knows people like this have stories for days about them snitching on themselves
|
13434800, Going back and telling people in the hood didn’t mean shit Posted by allStah, Tue Jun-08-21 07:14 PM
because it’s just the hood, and people knew not to snitch or get involved. Plus there is no evidence. That’s still word of mouth and gossip. That’s totally different. Back then, the equivalent would have been going live on TV or jumping on the radio, and announcing it to the world....and for others in the hood to do it where it is a constant. Plus cats in the 70s, 80s and 90s had to keep their mouths shut, because speaking about it would have led to a violation.
Social Media is a connection to the entire world, where posts can go viral in minutes, making it accessible to any and every person. These guys are way ,way more social with their criminal activities, to the point where it is self-incriminating. And once it’s on the Internet it is on there forever.

13434823, telling anyone about your crime is dumb af Posted by legsdiamond, Wed Jun-09-21 08:57 AM
and millions of people have been incarcerated because they didn’t keep their mouth shut or wanted attention.
A girl in college back in the 90’s did an interview with the local news to try and convince the public her boyfriend didnt rob a bank and commit murder because he was in her dorm room at the time of the crime. What a plan!!!
She was kicked out of college the next day. Just plain old stupid.
