13432472, The Midnight Miracle
Posted by , Wed May-12-21 10:11 AM
Dave Chappelle, Yesiin Bey, Talib Kweli.

It's exactly what we need.

"How to Inspire (Side A)"
https://youtu.be/UiG8lmWvh7I

Discussed:
Amy Winehouse
Malik B
Robin Williams
13432474, I had no idea what to expect but this shit is great.

I was cracking up for so much of it, besides the obviously unfunny parts. And those parts were cool and thoughtful.

Wish ep1 was longer. Hope this show never ends. I could take in this content 24 hours a day forever.
13432528, Sounds like they're gonna be short because they're pressing them on vinyl
Posted by Hitokiri, Wed May-12-21 02:48 PM
I guess each side should fit on a side of wax.
13432496, Indeed really great
Posted by PuertoNico, Wed May-12-21 11:05 AM
But can't listen to Side B here in Europe with this Luminary thing :(
13432562, This shit is incredible. A blessing. A Podcast as High Art. The production

is sick and takes it to the next level. Head a brother tearing up talking about Amy Winehouse and Robin Williams.

13432654, need Talib? Dave and Yasiin would of been just fine.
Posted by seasoned vet, Thu May-13-21 03:01 PM
Talib ruins everything good about this.
13432656, Ha he was barely present in the 1st episode, thankfully.
Posted by Brew, Thu May-13-21 03:11 PM
And yea I agree. Talib is not needed whether he is more prominent in the 2nd ep and subsequent eps, or not. Dave and yasiin would be perfect.

Talib's great on his own podcast but he's not particularly funny or engaging in this type of setting. Dave and yasiin have an obvious chemistry and are both naturally funny.
13443668, This was my thought....

13469555, Pretty sure Talib is the reason the show is happening.

Like Mos and Chappelle seem to be these media vagabonds wandering around and enjoying life but Talib has been the discipline getting ish done one still regularly dropping music and hosting his own podcast on Luminary.

It's kind of like Pras. Everyone use to wonder what his role in Fugees was but he was the dude that brought them together in the first place.

13432685, I loved the first one

I'll probably wait to subscribe until they all drop though. I don't need another service.
13432703, LOL same.

>I don't need another service.
13432705, I don’t either, but for the annual cost made it not feel like a subscription

I signed up for the trial planning to cancel, but listening to the quality of these first two episodes and knowing I could just pay 34.99 for the year? “You earned that bump like a mutha...” (c) Snoop.
13432889, Well this post made me do it.

I legit want to listen to their Woodstock 99 podcast too so...36 bucks it is. I’ll pay for quality shit but it’s hard to keep track of.
13469499, The Michael Jackson Doc is soo good too.

Weird they titled it telephone stories though.

13443763, God, this is good. Way better than I thought it would be.

13469493, :( where to listen (from Europe)?
Posted by PuertoNico, Tue Sep-27-22 02:35 PM
I'd be willing to pay, but can't even subscribe to luminary because they won't allow to do so from Europe. Any alternative suggestions? Would really appreciate!
13469529, I listened to it on Spotify.

13469551, they've only got only those two free episodes

I have a snide joke reply, but that won't help :/

Try emailing the podcast perhaps?
Maybe someone will respond with something helpful.
13502376, I just finished the second season. I really really enjoy this podcast
Posted by Buddy_Gilapagos, Thu Apr-18-24 01:19 PM
I generally do not listen to a single folks sitting around and talk podcast. But I really enjoy the storytelling of Mos Def and Dave Chappelle. Yeah it's a bit of a circle jerk but to hear them tell stories and here them talk about art and life and success is really revealing.

I can't believe I pay luminary for this but I do it for that one podcast.
